Isabelle is such an actress!!

she’s like a 26 yr old teenage girl having a psychotic break.i’m the same age so found the character v relatable. girlhood VS womanhood portrayed horrific & emotionally realistic. she has everything a woman wants, but nothing a girl wants & it horrifies her. that’s my takeaway.

She's a whore who cheats on her boyfriend who loves her. They even have a child together. None of her actions are justified.

That's one way to interpret it... a lot of people just see it about being about divorce. Personally I'm a simple man, so I like to see it as weird but beautiful movie about a unbelievably gorgeous woman fucking a phallic octopus-monster.

*Forced* method acting in this case. Apparently the director was quite hard on both her and Sam Neill, to the point where both had actual mental breakdowns, especially Adjani.
