I'm not a buddhist but I owe a debt of gratitude to Ajahn Brahm. I was going through the darkest period in my life and he reminded me of the value and importance of gentleness/kindness/compassion and wisdom/foresight. It was the beginning of my "spiritual journey".

The wanting to know by the Australian trekker is a very powerful story. I also gone thru the obsession of wanting to know the ‘truth’ for a long time. Grasping is really tiring. Thanks Ajahn🙏🙏🙏

That is interesting about the Taj Mahal. I had the same experience. I was on a group pilgrimage in India, and the tour went to the Taj Mahal. I could have easily skipped it. It did not do anything for me at all. I would much rather sit quietly next to a waterfall in the woods.

My best friend has suffered rape and torture every day since she was born to age 6. I am very sorry but a monk that comes from a loving home cannot speak about helping the less fortunate because he has no idea what their life is like. The teachings have helped me but for the less fortunate would be nice if monk with s traumatic past could step up to the plate. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear about your best friend. I hope this is ok for me to post. I’m a Theravada Buddhist but sometimes I listen to Mahayana Buddhist talks and this particular Buddhist nun at Plum Village is a survivor of sexual abuse and other abuse. Here’s a talk by her and she’s also written a book (Flowers In The Dark) from a Buddhist perspective for those looking to heal from life’s most traumatic experiences. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKl2stmGgc_XecY.html
