It’s the first thing I bought when I started learning in 2019. I won c grade snooker at my club then Covid shut me down for two years…no snooker. I’m back at it now and almost daily and the training ball is a must. A must!

Hello Nic, thank you very much for this very informative video. The pot in this video is around half-ball. Aiming pots that are thinner than half-ball can be quite tricky -- because there isn't a clear reference point for the line of aiming. 👍

I've always liked the idea of imagining the ghost ball hugging the visible object ball at the estimated point of contact. You would first think (at least I did) it's unreliable but once you get the hang of it it becomes surprisingly accurate, at any distance. Obviously building up the memory bank of certain shots (especially the colours off their spots from various angles) is crucial if we want to make it work.

Agreed Erno! It's all about building the database, and sticking to one system.

Nic, I was wondering if I could ask you a question about where exactly the cue should rest against the chest? Should it be high, e.g. above the nipple, or lower?

That's very tough to say without knowing more about your vision centre. I would love to help out, but impossible for me to give you a good answer on this question without seeing you play. Please feel free to check out the options on this link and complete a player profile. www.thesnookergym.com/distance-snooker-coaching

To avoid that confusion I prefer to see a shot like a half ball, quarter ball, but in that case I find it difficult to judge in between shots... :(

Pro's are not working out the potting angle with these calculations - like when we walk we don't calculate the angle of our foot. We just walk

This is my BIGGEST problem shooting pool angles, where is the new contact point on the cueball , it's hard to estimate still.

Trial and error is the slowest and the quickest way to learn this. Every shot at the pro level is an estimation also - they are just better at it than everyone else as they have more reliable trial and error.

@@TheSnookerGym I just changed to left eye cue alignment and it's helping, I'm working with center ball strait shots trying to get the cue ball to follow strait after the object ball.
