That chime is beautiful

I've been in a slightly scary 2004 Schindler lift with buttons for floors 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and 9 but it only serves floors 3 4 and 5! Whenever I ride it it feels like it's going to break down. It jolts if you press a floor the it doesn't serve and it levels quickly, as the doors open!

Went back here today, the lift overran in the up direction at the top, stopped, but the deaccelleration brought the whole of the overhead lighting panel down on a passenger's head! I have photos.

I know in a Schindler smart that you press 0, ., and 5 to select the mezzanine.

Yep, as you stated... -1 = Basement, 0=Ground, 1=first floor, 2=2nd floor.

I think this is a Schindler smart 001 as the 002 (mark two) has the boring nomal non capacitive buttons.

The "." button is the emergency exit level.

Maybe the "." button is for Mezzanine floors! For 1M you would click 1.1. If there were multiple mezzanine floors (E.g. viewing decks onto a shopping centre) you would type 1.2, 1.3 etc. Just a thought!

Was in a schindler smart yesterday, . sent the lift to -1

I've just seen this video. To answer for the "." button : this button must be parametrized at the main floor ("0" in this video). The Smart is replaced by the 3100, 3300 and 5300, not by the Eurolift. The Eurolift is an other range of products witch is now replaced by the 5500.

@mrmattandmrchay A bit late, but i only noticed this video today: I would love to see some of those photos! I always thought that it was impossible to overshoot and do damage on a traction lift as it would lose traction once the counter weight hits the buffer. Did they not leave enough room at the top of the shaft to compensate the travel distance of the counter weight buffers? Also, reaching the limit switch should trip the controller, making it stop with less comfortable decelleration settings

I was back there today, pressing the "." selects "-1" on the panel. Good point, not all floors are a number - Mezzanine is good example. What about 1F / 1R (floor 1 front doors, or rear doors for lifts with doors either side)

Typing -2 should make it crash into ground :). Typing 1.5 should make it stop in between of floors 1 and 2...

The minus 2 is really a joke,it wouldn't be stupid to obey a -2 when lowest value is -1,and the 1.5 is probably when buildings have a 1A and 1B floors

my school has this system installed but you have to enter a floor security code via the panel before the lift will move

Sounds like a code lock. When there are lots of people involved that need to remember the code USUALLY the code is something stupid like 2468, 4321 the corners like 1379, 9999. Just look for the keys that look worn and it'll probably be something simple ;)

@@mrmattandmrchay a common code on these Schindler smart MRL's is the capacity in this example 630KG so the code is 630

2 - Second Floor 1 - First Floor 0 - Ground Floor -1 - First Floor Underground

It says "FIRST FLOOR UNDERGROUND" is the same "basement 1"

Actually, zero brings you to the ground floor, minus and "1" gives you the basement, the "." also selects basement. No wonder the idea didn't catch on with other manufacturers. Nice looking panel though

That's the Schindler Smart002 MRL, launched around in the early 2000s but they discontinued it few years later and replaced them with the EuroLift series (now no longer in productions).

Correction: It was the SchindlerMobile thing which got succeeded by EuroLift. I don't know which Schindler's lift model that replaced/succeeded the Smart MRL model.

i think its -1 to do basement.

This is really weird of that touch button look like calculator isn't! But I dislike this touch of buttons. Might be is possible other people who affect touching by electric shock for that elevator, you know.

To get to the Basement Enter -1.

press - and 1 fast as you can and it will go to the basement

first push 1 and then 1

it's this -1

it's negative one
