"Poser" A Meaningless Insult
I discuss how referring to someone as a "poser" in the metal community has become a meaningless insult used to simply show dislike of someone.

No one calls me a poser cos I don't speak to anyone. Problem solved
You know. I do believe a person can like both Abba and Cradle of Filth. Doesn't discredit that person's love to metal at all.
what pisses me off the most is when pop musicians or other celebs, who are totaly not into metal, run around in bandshirts. I mean, Justin Bieber in a Metallica shirt!? Miley Cirus in a Maiden shirt!? That just kinda looks wrong i think.
Posers: Just because it's in Walmart doesn't mean you should buy it. Ac/Dc shirts, Nirvana shirts, Metallica shirts, those bands mean a lot to a lot of people, and just because you know "Back in Black," "Smells like Teen Spirit" or "Enter Sandman" DOES NOT mean that you know that band. I see so many rock, metal and grunge band shirts floating around and I ask people about them sometimes, and they just blank. "What's your favorite Metallica album?" "Oh.. uh... ya know... the one with 'Enter Sandman' on it..." Here's a rule of thumb: If you don't genuinely like the band, can't name at least 2 albums you actually like by the band, or only know their popular songs, it's probably not a good bet to wear that band's logo on your shirt.
Sorry, but I hate and will hate people that wear Nirvana shirts and don’t even know it’s a band. (Yes, I know nirvana is not metal)
I completely agree! When I went to my first Metal concert some years ago I was called a poser because I hadn't yet heard of many of the bands that a fellow concert goer was talking to me about. Instead of putting people down and calling them a poser you should embrace them into the community and educate them.
What do you feel abou girl metalheads? We (atleast in my age 17) are ofen called poser, and fake metalheads, we only want attention etc..
One of the kids at my school said he “doesn’t like Death Metal” after I played him a Metallica song
Not Metal related but I have that issue with "fans" who wear Nirvana shirts and only know Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are and Lithium or wear Guns N' Roses shirts and only know Sweet Child O' Mine and Welcome To The Jungle
I don't understand why it's not ok to like popular bands like: Slipknot, Slayer, and Metallica! Slipknot actually introduced me to more extreme metal bands like: Cannibal Corps, Bathory, obituary and even Mayhem!
ABBAth
People who spit on everything that is not metal are biggest posers of all.
I hate people that wear band t-shirts but don't even listen to the band, mostly Nirvana, Guns n Roses

I've been called a poser my entire life because I don't dress like a metalhead. You should have seen the looks I got at Progpower. >.<
"poser" is just a big meme now
You have the most amazing personality, you really are gentle with what you say in a non push over way, and are very excepting, I hope some people in the metal community take something away from this, there are a lot of younger teens who are trying to understand the genre and need the older ones to guide them, not ridicule them for not knowing. Thanks so much for making this video. We want to keep metal alive, and we wont be around forever, we need to recruit the young ones as well to carry the torch.
A poser to me is someone who wears a t-shirt or other clothing of a band, but aren't a fan or knows nothing about the band or couldn't name you one song. If you don't know or like the band, than don't wear the fucking shirt or clothing! We should not be calling each other posers in the Metal community. We should be attacking trendy, crappy celebrities wearing Metal shirts and other clothing. They are the true posers!
I definitely see where you're coming from.
Someone called me "a poser" for liking death metal, wtf ಠ_ಠ
