Modern workwear is very good on bicycles - about town, touring, rough riding and mountain biking. Even top level workwear is much cheaper than purpose made cycle clothing. Good fit and cut for moving and leaning forward with high back (maybe with braces or wear dungarees). Of course, road and track racing and fast training brings out the skin tight lycra.

John another good video. Even though I’m visually impaired and I do make stuff in the garage always like having the extra pockets specially when you’ve got a guide dog for poo bags all kinds of extra bits you have to carry for them. But it’s great for when you’re in the garage as well as you can’t have enough pockets to put stuff as food for me I’ll put stuff down and news it’s so if it’s on my person I can’t lose it. And the shoes I’ve been wearing still toecap and soles trainers whilst out walking my guide dog as well as in a garage as, Always kicking my foot on stuff and curbs in the street. But always wore boots for work. Full set up I’ve got quite a few different types of boots from rigours from tarmac boots with a protection over the laces as well 4 foot crashing which they do work I did get run over by a roller at work before and it was my own role at what I was used to drive. And that saved my foot so much damage. But with me I drop the hammer know that my feet are safe it’s quite handy as I quite often miss the worktop and drop the hammer straight down onto my foot. Keep doing the great videos and great to hear the intro again. That is a part of your videos

I never wore gilet sleeveless jacket body warmer until recently. I read a report that you can wear all the gloves and socks you can wriggle into but your hands & feet will still get cold if your torso, neck and head are cold because the body diverts blood from extremities to vital functions. So: warm torso, neck, & head leads to warm hands and feet. I've got a body warmer. Extra pockets useful too.

Nice trousers! 😀 Soooo many pockets! 😂 I use Snickers workwear, and I don't know how many times I've "lost" various bits and bobs only to find them in one of the odd pockets a couple of days later... 🙈😂

Been honest when I saw you wearing these in the last couple of videos I thought you gone mad and were buying your workwear in Aldi. Having said that I’ve worn portwest cargo pants in the past and always found them good 👍

Great vid John. I’m 6’4” and about 14.5 stone. Have always struggled with trouser length and need a 34 leg really. Very interested in your comments on leg length. I bought an inexpensive pair of Scruffs as workshop trousers and they are an amazing length but not stretchy like the PortWest. In my civil engineering days I wouldn’t be seen anywhere without a pair of riggers boots so can empathise completely with the boot ethos! ps. I like the revised titles! 😉

Size is interesting. I'm only 5' 11" but usually have to get L or XL sizes, possibly due to 43" chest. That jacket is a huge medium!

Skinny trousers are awful be it jeans or work trousers for me. They just feel claustrophobic and restrictive. Also since they seem to make nearly everything in stretchy synthetic fabric they have no burn or welding protection unlike a cotton or canvas pair of trousers. Seem to be a lot less hard wearing over a longer term use and with skinny legs they won't go over boots, again no good for welding applications or where there's spatter or debris falling. I'm still a snickers fan and big fan of their shorts. I did really like the hyena trousers screwfix did. Still have 3 pairs of those and they're brilliant. Don't know why they stopped selling them. They also had a brilliant feature of a rubber inner grip band stop builders crack which was such a good idea( like the grippy area on a ski jacket to avoid snow going up your back).

  • @JohnMcGrathManInShed

@@JohnMcGrathManInShed thats fair enough john but when the price of work clothes is expensive enough and we pay it out of our own pockets (just bought anew pair of snickers floorlayers to try out and theyre excellent) , usually a do all pair of trousers is needed. Dont get me wrong, I like the idea of the stretch trousers (sure dont the brickys love their trackie bottoms) but anytime I try a pair on I just feel they're too tight on the thighs and like I should be hopping on a road bike for a few miles of cycling. Horses for course, some guys like them.
