@Fiona Ford I actually thought France were the better team. Either way Portugal were incredibly lucky to avoid Italy, Spain, Belgium & Germany before lifting the trophy. That would've never happened in the previous format.

Everybody went home after the final lost in Lisbon. You could hear a pin drop. The streets were extremely quiet. The entire city was defeated.

Portugal deserved an Uefa Euro. They were chasing it for years. In 2000 they were in semi finals in 2004 were runners up, in 2008 in quarter finals and in 2012 semi finals and in 2016 they finally made it. So you can see from 2000 there were almost always at the last 4 (with the exception of 2008). I was happy for them.

Respect to eder for making the whole of portugal team so full of joy and emotion ❤

As a Greek person I wanted Portugal to win this final. Santos is a historical coach for us, bringing Greece to the Knockout stage of the World Cup in 2014 for the first time ever. He also was for many years coach of PAOK in the greek league. Respect to him and all of Portugal for their first major trophy.

Watched the match with my mom and my dad, i played football at the time and ronaldo was my favorite player but when he went down we all thought it was done, both my parents were not huge fans of football but they were rooting for potugal and i can still remember when eder scored that goal, we went off and we started screaming out of happiness, surely an unforgettable moment

Germany had to go up against England AT Wembley, and England were also one of the favorites to win. France have no excuse; they bottled a 3-1 lead at the 80 minute to SWITZERLAND. So it’s only really France who fucked up from the group of death
