'Bill Lewis Films: Portsmouth & Southsea: At the seafront 1960s'
The colour footage shows adults and young children enjoying themselves in various seaside activities around Portsmouth and Southsea in the 1960s. Most of these activities are water based such as: model boats in Walpole Park; children teasing a swan; and enjoyment at outdoor swimming pools. Footage is shown of Portsmouth from Gosport and we see landmarks such as the Semaphore Tower and Portsmouth Power Station. We see other activities such as children playing in a park with manicured lawns and people watching the Hovercraft land. In addition we see footage of the Solent from Southsea castle, with a view of the lighthouse.

The Model yatchs are on the Lake at Walpole Park, Gosport. Only the last part of the film, from the Hovercraft scenes was taken at Southsea. Nice old piece of film though.

A real treasure. Looks like most of it is in Gosport by the look of things

Yes -you are quite correct. Gosport; - not Southsea!

As has already been pointed out, mainly Gosport. I even believe that the hovercraft was pulling into Stokes Bay, as there was a service to there in the '60s, I'm sure that even at the angle filmed we should have seen Haslar wall and Clarence Pier. Great memories.
