Porto Cesareo Sunken Roman Columns

Porto Cesareo Marine Preserve in Apulia doesn't possess some of the best snorkeling & SCUBA opportunities in Italy just because there are some beautiful fish - although there iare those. No, this bay has something else: history. Real, tangible. archaeological history! It's here in the form of 5 sunken Roman columns that date back 2,000 years, and they're accessible to anyone with a mask & snorkel. That's because they are sitting on the sea bed only 15 feet below the surface in crystal clear water, close enough to observe in perfect detail. To find them, travel just north of Porto Cesareo Town to the parking lot next to the Torre Chianca. Enter the water in front of the Hotel Tabu and swim out about 60 yards near the point. Take note of my few of the tower from the water and you should be able to pin point them easily - enjoy your brush with history under the sea!
