Portland & Western 2310 NB on the UP Brooklyn Sub @ Salem, Oregon 1-27-2012

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Using trackage rights on Union Pacific, the local Portland & Western manifest heads north to Portland, Oregon on the Brooklyn Subdivision. The classic power has a chance to stretch it's "legs" for a bit.

Thanks for the heads up. I grew up in Tigard back in the days of the BN and SP. When I'd hear the BN Albany turn coming (the one that snaked it's way over Cornelius Pass), I'd jump on my bike and ride to the spot on Tiedeman Road where the BN and SP split from the shared Beaverton/Tigard line. The switch was manual. It was always fun trying to watch the rear brakeman catch the moving train after throwing it.

Love seeing PNWR being able to run at a good clip. Was shocked when I saw a SB Manifest coming down near Concomly Rd (before I knew that they sometimes shared trackage with UP) Great video as always!

Inherited trackage rights. BNSF (rather, BN) had an agreement with UP to run a daily 663/664 job from Vancouver to Albany on their track. Since PNWR now operates on the former BN lines in the valley, they took over the job.

Nice shot. Given that P&W has their own line up and down the Willamette Valley, anyone know why they use the UP (and why the UP let's them use it)?
