Just looking at one aspect, the city leadership did not seem to understand their decision-making was ruled by time and much of that time seem wasted on inhouse fighting while many police, near retirement or even middle aged could not withstand the much younger midnight protesters, night after night, relentless as fast moving water. The protester did not have to 'win' all they had to do was outlast the police, and by the amount of police leaving the force, they did. Decisions had to be made fast, be effective, and in one voice and Portland's leadership failed to do that. Whatever Portland becomes, it can never be what it once was.

Why are they sticking around?! FLEE while you can, cops!

Just gonna have to pay police more money to do the job, or you could just make murder legal.

Of course cops are painted with a broad brush, I don’t know anyone that knows police officers well enough to see anything more than a badge and gun. Then when we see cops are never held accountable, unless you have the MOST damning evidence EVER, we hold ALL cops accountable(as well as the system) Anyone here want to start a business and tell all those employees, who you REALLY don’t know deep down, that they’ll have qualified immunity? That they can do whatever they want, make mistakes, but it won’t matter. NO business owner would do that. The reason, cops know the city pays for police lawsuits, not them. So why should they care. It may have been good back when evidence lacked(didn’t even have DNA evidence) to make sure cops weren’t wrongly charged by actual butthurt criminals. Now, the evidence shows, through cameras EVERYWHERE, that the cops have been infiltrated by too many bad cops while the good cops have to go with it or pay the price of “BROTHERHOOD RETALIATION” by those bad cops that aren’t being held accountable. Now it’s gone WAY too far and now those bad cops hiring bad cops and now we are seeing how much they will abuse their powers. Too many people go into becoming a police officer, to then be forced into a type of “gang” they wanted to fight against. BOTTOM LINE, like ANY owner of a business would say, without accountability you create chaos. The police force, mostly the government, now has to work hard in helping the good cops weed out all the corrupted cops that are too far gone.

Seattle, once a nice place to live & visit is having a number of problems as well, for example, many police have quit or retired early because they feel a good measure of their authority has been diminish. And also, Seattle, like Portland is having a drug and homeless problem - tents are pitched all over the city. Well, if you don't have a house or apartment or something, you have to live somewhere.

Leadership issue. They need to bring on the federal government to help.

We need the Army, National Guard and Other Government Agencies whom can come help with these major issues before they get worse on there own. Right now the City and State are liable for many problems. They are doing more harm than good to the community which is highly reprimand able.

In Portland the mayor is a Democrat. All 4 of the city council are Democrats. The AG is a Democrat. The DA is a Democrat. The problems Portland is facing are caused by the Democratic Party. The most recent Republican mayor of Portland served from 1979-1980.

The victim, 45-year-old Raja McCallister, was shot and killed last Wednesday in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood, police said in a statement. With 2023 still three weeks away, the number of homicides in Portland this year has matched the record-breaking total of 90 in 2021. The city is also recording far more homicides than other major west coast cities. San Francisco Police Department recorded 51 homicides in total through early December, while Seattle police reported 46 homicides through October. Sacramento police told KOIN 6 News that they’ve had 54 homicides this year to date and San Diego police say they’ve had 49 homicides in 2022.

Corrupt Portland police need to bleed out people and remove aggressive ticketing traps. People only like cops when they are not oppressed by them, until they create a monster and it’s at their door.
