Since Porter wrote this in dedication to his girlfriend Rika... I wondered why he named the song "blossom" specifically. Turns out "Rika" means "pear blossom" in Japanese. God, this makes me love it even more. The first few seconds that I heard this song I KNEW this was something special. Something only someone so deeply in love can create. Hats off, Porter.

To think I lost the love of my life to a drunk driver a couple of months before this came out. I cried so hard when i heard this. It's already been 7 months and every day is a struggle. she's constantly on my mind. nothing can prepare you for it. i'm living in a genuine nightmare. i just wish she could've heard this. we really started falling in love by the time we went to our first Porter show together. she was so fucking beautiful everyone. the universe gave me a few short, happy years with her, it gave me this song to help ease the pain of losing her, to help remember the many, many amazing times we had together. I hope anyone reading this is out there surviving. If i can so can you. it's all i can do, i promised her i would. Fuck, i hope i don't let her down.

This is going to sound weird because this is a romantic song, but I work in memory care and this song makes me think about the people I take care of. Some of them have been the most amazing people you could ever hope to meet, and I feel so so honored that I was able to meet them, and be with them, and love them during the ends of their lives. The relationships you form working in this kind of care are like family. And this song just made me think of all the people I’ve cared for who I’ve loved so so much that I wish I could’ve had a little more time with, even though I know it was their time to pass and they were ready. Idk, maybe this is weird to share. But if anyone ever worries if their loved ones in care homes are being truly cared for, know that I genuinely love every single person I care for like family.

This isn't weird at all! This song is about love and AFFECTION. You can prove affection towards everyone. Plus, love isn't only romantic: you can love your family, your relatives, your dog, your friends, your coworkers/classmates, a special place, nature, the universe.. and so on.

As someone else has said, this is a love song. Love has so many different forms, and all of them could be represented by these lyrics. It may have been inspired by romantic love, but it speaks to something much broader, and this is what makes it beautiful.

The transition to his raw, unfiltered voice when he says "It's just that I love you" really captures his genuine emotion. 'Evoking the feeling that there isn't any sugarcoating to be implied. It's so powerful in the way that he's used it.

I lost my previous partner to a car collision on my campus only a few months ago. This song hit so hard and I have been listening to this ever since that has happened. I find comfort in this song. I miss her. SO god damn much. thank you porter. We all love you.

In Spain, especially Catalonia, today the boys give roses to the girls and they to the boys. Today I gave a rose to my girlfriend while we were eating on the lawn. She also likes Porter Robinson so I played this song while we were looking at the clouds on a sunny day like today. This song reminds me so much of how I feel about my boyfriend. I love him more than anything, never before have I laid my eyes on anyone or anything I have felt so much love for. This is literally one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my life 🥰😭

I think this song has finally put death into perspective for me. Ive genuinely wanted to die since I was about 7, people I care about have never stayed in my life, I'm bad with empathy, and the religion i grew up with liked to view death as a good thing. because of all that I've never really understood it, I always viewed it as the end of suffering rather than the end of life, that when I was to die I'd finally be happy, that whenever anybody i cared about died that they were happy, that heaven was treating them right or that they were getting what they deserved in hell. but after listening to this song i realize death isn't the end of the bad, its the end of everything, you cant hug your pets, you cant enjoy a good drink, you cant smile at a stranger, and now after thinking about all this i feel sick I've never viewed death as a bad thing but now after realizing what its really like I'm scared and i don't know what to do. i am sure in a bit ill feel okay but for now, i don't feel my best

Dear Porter, I'm currently going trough a really tough and sudden breakup. I hit rock bottom, my whole world crumbled, I just couldn't imagine my life without my partner. It was maybe the biggest pain I have ever felt in my life. I felt betrayed, I felt resentment, I judged them but the longing for them was stronger. As a musician, I even tried to make a song about it. But after I listened to Blossom, randomly appearing in my liked songs playlist, tears started flowing out off my eyes, remembering all the beautiful experiences that we had, the warmth that enveloped us, the happiness I was feeling, just because my sweetheart was genuinely happy. I realised that rather than being bitter and lamenting on these memories in the past, it's better to look at them with a smile, being happy just to have known them. It reminded me that although we parted our ways, deeply, in our hearts, we are wishing each other well. Thank you, Porter, for making me realise this and making me let them go with love.

Since Nurture has came out, I have been listening to all of the songs for the better part of ten months. Every song is amazing but blossom still stands out to me the most. I have been single for over five years, now at the seven year mark. ( Have never fallen in love) Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed the single life for these years, but I eventually do want to meet the Woman of my dreams one day. For so long, I always figured I wasn't anyone's type, thinking I had to have a strong social status to attract someone, or having to not be myself to gain someone's appeal; Not that I've done that because I love who I am.
