Thankfully, they hired Ellen McLain who is not only a terrific actress but a professionally trained opera singer. Ellen's versatile vocal range not only made GLaDOS memorable but also the sentry turrets. Portal has good replay value and time and it's because of Ellen's voice.

скажу, как у нас в России: Уитли озвучили, наверное, даже лучше, чем в оригинале, но GLaDOS.... Её голос получился СЛИШКОМ неестественным. Да, она говорит хорошо, но в её речи и фразах нет никаких эмоций даже тогда, когда они были и в оригинале. Не знаю, может это и лучше, но оригинал мне больше нравится

I have always wondered what that last "still alive" means, because it is not written in the data as the rest of the song, so I came with a little theory of mine: We can see that in the line "that was a joke, haha, fat chance" the laughter is not written, and maybe it is because it is an actual emotion a computer cannot code? It makes sense to me, because that last still alive feels more organic that any other line she says in the song. Like, not with a voice so flat with actual emotions put in it. So my theory here is that in all of the song, GlaD0s was saying she was "alive" as a way to saying she was still operating. But that last still alive she says is because she realizes she can feel emotions such as anger, hatred or curiosity, and that last still alive was her saying she was actually alive. This is just a crazy theory of mine hahaha, but I think it would be cute.

maybe it could also be that Caroline, the deepest part of GLaDOS, speaks here, here being part of her personality and showing how Caroline really was before she was turned into GLaDOS by the scientists of apertune science.

@@pug_bot8326 What was so complicated about it? Aperture Science (portal) was a business rival to Black Mesa (Half-Life). Long story short, Aperture made the portal gun, ran some tests with no regard to human life, connected Glados to Deadly Neurotoxin for some reason, everybody else ceases working, Chell wakes up, runs the gauntlet and smashes the sassy computer! XD It's practically the same thing as the Marines' Bat Bomb in WW2, some dentist thought napalm on bats was a good idea, they forgot to disarm the fuses for a test drop, burned their entire military base to the ground, some Marine was like "This is the best burn rate I've ever seen! I'll be taking over the project!"

It's so interesting to me how for most of the song GLaDOS sounds rather content, but in the song Want You Gone, she shows a bigger range of emotions, showing how she has changed from the first one to the second game.

THE YEAR was christmas 2009 , my grandmother had found this game in a cheap pc gaming bin at a local gamestore and gave it to me thinking i would like it. and boi it shaped one of my favorite puzzle games of all time. my grandmother passed away in 2016 and with the switch release coming out i am excited to finally relive the game that made me LOVE puzzle games in the first place.

The fact that there is a heavy reverb only in the version played in the credits makes it sound like it's being played across the entire building.

Very recently beat the portal games for the first time amazing the community's still going even if the 2nd game was made over a decade ago

Yeah. While I do feel Wheatley was a bit more annoying than usual and GLaDOS being less murderous than she usually was, it was alright. The Black Mesa Easter egg was also pretty cool.

"Even though you broke my heart and killed me" made me burst out laughing..

I crying... This is was... Real excellent game....

@@vizthex Yes, they probably didn't know forsure they were going to make a sequel until it actually got that popular, but yeah, ''still alive'' because she obviously wasn't dead, and there was that scene where the player gets dragged back into the facility that they then added, so they definitley were seriouse when they noted that GlaD0s is infact, not dead, and you should probably be afraid.

2023 is on the horizon where I live right now and all I can say is what a ride these past 15 years have been with portal, the internet, memes, and everything else in between. Keep on rocking everyone and always remember Glados is always still alive.
