Eh- Many villains don't have the easy option of letting the protagonist go, since their goal usually is to stop the villain. (Though, some villains really have easier ways to get rid of their enemies, like Megamind in Megamind 2 easily being able to solve his issues by using the dehydration gun.)

Oh the subtitles finally answered a question I had about a line. Glados said the more valuable lesson is *where* Caroline lives in her brain. Like literally the files where Caroline’s personality are located. That’s why she is able to delete Caroline. I used to think “where” was like in the abstract, which was more confusing.

She is lying through her teeth though. All signs indicate she didn't actually delete Caroline. The Song "I want you gone" clearly implies she is still in there. And the whole "Caria Mia" thing with the turrets, letting Chell go in the first place and kicking out the companion cube with her were awfully emotionally-driven actions for an AI that supposedly deleted its human component. Not to mention Caroline is literally the basis of the entire AI. Glados should, realistically, not even be able to delete Caroline without damaging her own existence. So all in all... she is clearly lying.

She wasnt, at all Caroline is hard coded into GlaDOS, to delete her she would need to delete like 90% of her (because she was built from Caroline), so doing it would kill her...or damage her really badly She lie, and that is show by the facts that -She Lets You leave instead of just killing you -She gives You the Companion Cube, thing that doesnt make sense if she was an AI -In her song, she actually says (in a Line place under "redacted) that she actually feels Bad, maybe of what she did to you

She also gave back the Companion Cube because she saw how test subjects often got emotionally attached to the Companion Cube, so she let Chell have it in the off chance she would come back for it

It's technically easy to murder in many cases, but it's exceedingly rare that it'll solve anything; as soon as you start adding constraints like not getting caught afterwards, the murderee being a personal enemy of you or something like that, the difficulty skyrockets. Unconditional, gratuitous, spontaneous murder is easy. But as a solution to anything, murder is not easy at all. Source: dafuq you expected you lunatic?

I was so confused when GLaDOS said don’t come back

Whenever I watch the ending for the game, I always thought Caroline wanted Chell to be out of Aperture Science not because she’s done with her, but because there’s really nothing in the facility that’ll aid her survival. Remember that most of the runtime in the game happened, probably, in only one day or two. You wake up, reenter the facility, start testing, wake her up, and suddenly you’re in space. Maybe that open field looked too open, but there might be something behind the shack that we just couldn’t see (an illusion). Man, Valve’s writing for this game was just pure genius.

this was very cool to see done in your style, thanks maggie :) this ending will always be sad to me. i always hated seeing Caroline reject her humanity. the startling change back to her robotic tone that, through the game, gradually shifted from logical to far more human. then in a moment all that change is gone and we lose an unlikely friend.
