Is it heavy? How easy is it to get knocked over if i out a large one in a field with say 10 yearlings? I would get a couple of course

The big one is quite heavy, but you'll notice the horses (once they acclimate to these feeders) actually regularly knock them over. They'll knock them over and then tip them back up. Knock them over and tip them back up. Our horses love doing that. They're very sturdy however so they can take the abuse.

Im thinking of getting the porta grazer slow feeder, I noticed you have he pro panel wall feeder. I was looking at this to easily put in salt block (What you did) and then when im out of town, easy for my caretaker to throw hay into the pro panel wall feeder. Silly question, do you think the normal sized Porta grazer would fit in the pro panel wall feeder? my by has the habit of stepping into things and throwing it everywhere ( 17.3hh warmblood lol) if it comes to hay nets or feeders. thanks for your time

Hi, thanks for watching! I bet the normal sized porta grazer would fit in the all feeder, but you'd have to check. I wouldn't worry about your horse throwing around the porta grazer, though, as it is seriously durable. My horses throw theirs around on purpose to relocate them, to readjust the hay, and just for fun. It's a quality product. And you could always tie a porta grazer to the fence or wall, and have your horse caretaker just drop hay in the top of the porta grazer when you're out of town.

Hey, I see you also have the pro panel wall feeder. Which do you prefer of these two? My horse pulls his hay all over and I’m trying to find a way to prevent him from eating the sand on the ground. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for watching! They're both great. I'm happy with both. The larger one I really only have to fill once a day and that's fabulous. But the regular one works just as good and is a touch cheaper. If I was buying another one this moment I'd get another of the larger ones. But they both do their job of providing slow feed hay and keeping the mess and sand and dirt ingested to a minimum.

I just realized I misread your question. Sorry. They both stop your horse from eating off of sand, but the porta grazer is my favorite because it helps the hay last longer per feeding (longer time to eat the same amount), and there's no waste.

I'm a little concerned about the "split" or "crack" by one of the holes in the feeder (see 2:30"). Would that sharp edge not cut the horse's lip??

Hey, thanks for watching. The split is actually smooth to the touch and causes no issues. I've never scratched my finger on it and the horses never even catch a whisker there. I do use this daily and if it ever became an issue you can get replacement pans.

My baskets on two min-feeders both broke down within months of purchase. I didn't see any irritation to my horse until yesterday, when I found his chin rubbed raw and a section broken out of the center of one basket. It's junk now, and I own a $300 plastic bucket. I'm hoping my second basket will last until the Hay Burner mesh topper I ordered arrives.

Price??

That just seem so pricey for something made of plastic

I feel ya! I have found it to be way more economical than hay nets that don't last, though.

You're right. I bought two mini's and the first basket broke in less than four months. The center fell out of the other yesterday--eight months. The company offered me a $50 credit if I ordered a new basket within two weeks, but I passed. Great concept, but not a durable product.

​@@user-fv4ez4lv3k That's astonishing you've had that poor of an experience with the Porta Grazer (mini or not). We've had two XLs and two mini's for years without issue (though it looks like the design on the mini might've changed, based on the pictures on their website). The baskets do take some wear and tear, but even if they get a bit cracked (for example) they still seem to work okay. Anyway, sorry to hear your experience hasn't been as great as ours!
