1. There are tons of activities for you to participate in outside. The city manages 28 parks with athletic fields, playgrounds, boat ramps, tennis courts, boardwalks and fishing piers for you to enjoy. Port Orange also hosts several events throughout the year including Port Orange Family Days and the annual 4th of July celebration at the City Center. Golfing is also abundant with four courses in Port Orange and many other just a short drive away. Port Orange is very water friendly as well and if you'd like to get out on the water, it's easy to do here. Use one of the six boat ramps to launch all types of vessels and cruise the intercoastal, go deep sea fishing, explore the mangroves or spend a Saturday with the locals at Disappearing Island. You can also get to the beach easily from Dunlawton Ave.
2. Port Orange has great schools including Spruce Creek High and Sweetwater Elementary with are both ranked number one in Volusia County. Creekside Middle School holds the number two spot for middle schools in Volusia County as well.
3. If you're a history buff, check out Sugar Mill Gardens, Gamble Place at Cracker Creek or head down to Ponce Inlet to visit the Ponce DeLeon Lighthouse and Museum. Explore the museum and climb the tallest lighthouse in Florida to get amazing panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterways.
4. Port Orange has access to three different airports including the Daytona Beach Airport, Sandford Airport and Orlando International Airport, making travel a breeze.
5. If you're a foodie, you'll love Port Orange. There is a huge selection of all types of foods here in town including Mexican, Indian, Italian, Seafood and just about anything else you could want to try. Port Orange does have your typical chain restaurants as well, like Chili's and Applebee's and a lot of well known fast food chains. You will not go hungry here in Port Orange!
