Jack, are you sure that Essendon are definitely going to finish the 2018 season in 9th position? If they don't, then that doesn't really qualify them to be the best non-finals team in history. Wait a minute, I remember. You must be referring to the one which qualified for the 2013 finals series and then got booted out before it even got to play a final, and was then replaced by Carlton, who didn't qualify to begin with.

Good win by the Bombers have shown a lot this year, who knows if they made the finals what would've happened especially producing the football they know how to.For the Power yeah finals looked a certainty a little while ago, anyways all the very best for 2019:)

I remember going to the port bombers game in round 4 and after the match these port fans next to me were like “it’s only one loss, we’ll be first at the end of the year” rethink everything you just said.

Jesse Grover, if Hawthorn had have missed the finals then there would have been quite a lot of Geelong supporters who would have been every bit as happy about them missing out as what you are about Port Adelaide missing out.

Bingo I hope you do as a Carlton fan I've always liked Port.I think you have a pretty good team, Rocky probably underdone coming into the season and struggled to get going due to that,Hartlett & Broadbent missing most of/all year as well:)

I think this the first time no south australian team has played finals since 2011.

@@BasedMothman The holding is not the real issue. It's soft, probably not true, but not that bad. It's the terrible decision to call advantage which gives a free goal when it is clearly nowhere near advantage.

Advantage cannot occur when the ball is already past the mark of the free kick. This is to prevent huge and unfair shifts of momentum such as evident here. The whistle of the umpire draws the opponents man off him, and he is able to run on wards despite being 10 metres over the mark of the free kick. The correct call here is to call the ball back to the mark.
