Porsche Cayenne Turbo OFF-ROADING?!? Mud, Dirt & Water Fording!!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here is something different from us! We had an avid subscriber ask us if we wanted to go off-roading in his Porsche Cayenne Turbo. HECK YEA we did! After some really fun mud flinging and trail running we set up an autocross slalom in a big patch of dirt and had some fun!

Hey everyone. We took your advise in the comments. We are going to a more hardcore off-road park we found in central Florida, hill climbs rock crawling and mud pits. We are challenging a local jeep club too! Expect live updates tomorrow and a video in a week or two!
Many people laugh when it comes to vw touareg or cayenne off road camabilities. But at the same time most of those people has no idea that touareg or cayenne has better off road capabilities than many "real off road vehicles" so when next time you will see cayenne going into some mud think first and then comment cus this vehicle can suprise you in many ways

Touareg is probably the most off-road capable stock SUV/crossover besides the obvious like jeep's or maybe a 4runner. Thing's a literal beast. Check out TFL's 2004 Touareg they test.

@@noahmcdaniel4920 oh such a shame the new Cayenne does not have rear diff lock anymore? :/ So nowadays, which has the 3 diff locks besides the Mercedes G class?
That looked like fun. It would be interesting to see if the Cayenne Diesel is worth keeping for off-road use.
love that exhaust growl . Sounds great!!
Nice filming... I've gained respect for (one) cayenne owner.... hahaha. That looked like a fun place to mess around.
What size tires/wheels do you have on this Cayenne? I need some off-road tires for my 19" wheels. I can't seem to find anything for my 2005 Turbo..
What size are the wheels and tires?
can you share the winch details? model, specs (i.e., did you run power etc?)
I just bought the exact same car year and all. are all the turbo version twin turbos
do you have a build sheet for that cayenne that you would share? lift? winches? tire size?
the turbo will get plenty sideways you just need to turn the PSM off and really put your foot in it. ...although It should be noted that it will just flat out shut off if you bounce it off the Rev limiter doing donuts for too long. ...it is a very odd experience hahaha. what size are those rims?? due to the size of my brakes the smallest rim I can run is a 19 and the KO2 do not come in a 19 rim.
I waded 2 feet of flood water a few days ago and since have a non engine related whine while moving... This is only evident when moving and the pitch increases with road speed, any thoughts would be welcomed.

could be as simple as dirt lodged around your brakes, or maybe water got into your diffs or transmission. A fluid drain and refill isn't too hard to do if you are concerned
There are no hills in Florida
Great video of the Porsche guys. I've owned a grand Cherokee for over 8 years now and I'm either thinking of a Jeep Commander or a Cayenne, is the Porsche as capable off-road as a Grand/Commander.

I got the Cayenne with the V8. DRAIN YOUR BULKHEAD, I did a little video of it!
I just found this clip....and I could not believe that you have a bfgoodrich KO2 on them. But that cayenne has adjustable air suspension....correct? I have a customer who is looking to do the same for his 2008 cayenne.
@SpectroRacingChannel

yup the 265/65/18 BFG KO2 fits great on all 955 and 957 cayennes, with or without air suspension. It won't fit on a 2011 or newer but on a 2008 it will fit just fine. It won't rub even without air suspension or with air on low level
Excelent, Cayenne

I saw the other video where you ride with the Jeep club and enjoyed it...I have a 2006 Cayenne S and want to keep it and put new tires on it. BF Goodrich makes great tires that last so this video really sold me on the idea of new BFG's for my PIG!

Mark, the BFG ko2 265/65/18 is the gold standard in A/T tires for the 955/957. Fitment is perfect and they're honestly pretty great on-road too. Highly recommend! Lots of cayenne owners use them.

@@SpectroRacingChannel Did you have to do any tuning for the car when you added the 265/65/18? and how is it on wet pavement? dangerous? Thanks!
@SpectroRacingChannel
4 жыл бұрын
@@georgetarabay152 no the car is unmodified in these videos with the exception of the tires and disconnecting the front swaybar. The speedometer will read lower than your actual speed due to the greater rolling diameter of the large tire, but all of the ABS/ stability control etc still all work just fine. It's totally fine on wet pavement. These are absolutely streetable tires; they aren't true "mud" or "off road" tires.

@@SpectroRacingChannel Thanks for your quick reply!! one last quest. do you think having bigger tires might affect the engine or gear in the long run? and also does it make a big difference in fuel consumption? thanks!
@SpectroRacingChannel
4 жыл бұрын
@@georgetarabay152 I don't think actual fuel consumption rates will be affected much. These tires have greater rolling resistance but it's not going to make a huge difference at the pump. And no I don't think it causes issues in the long run. A lot of cayennes, especially the older ones, are running these tires. The cayenne in this video is nearing 200k miles on the original engine and transmission.

Loved the vid! If you want to see the Cayenne climbing some rocks and with max sized tires then check my vid of me at Toroweap Overlook at north rim of Grand Canyon.
Would have liked to have seen it try some challenging terrain, like some ruts that had a wheel up, and see how the TC copes with a spinning wheel. Like this hemi jeep: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4h_16qgdZfRdtY.html Those puddles didn't look that hard.

It handled the soft dirt "ok" We tried flexing it on some dirt mounds. It would get pretty confused. I have a shot of it but it was pretty boring. It just dug in and we gave up. I wish we had cool trails like that in Florida. Oh well. The trail video shows some more varied terrain. Its in the KZread cards. Yeah the puddles werent to bad as it was packed dirt not mud underneath.

ummm...the first gen cayenne and first gen touareg are almost identical except for the engine/transmission and suspension tuning (spring rates, etc). You can literally swap the interior and many of the body parts and suspensions from one car to the next. There are even a fair amount of VW-stamped parts on the cayenne. They changed more in the more recent generations but in 2003-2007 time frame they were co-developed by Porsche / VW.

@@SpectroRacingChannel exactly.......engine an trans is all that matters...2 different cars. The rest who cares they only did that to cut cost.....when I took the plugs out of mine they had NgK-VW. Stamped on them so yea I agree but still did you know that the VR6 MOTOR is in the Bugatti super car. Yep same motor that's in the cayenne base. Well 12 cylinder twin turbo vr6"s
I've seen old Toyota Tercel 4x4's on crazier terrain than that. That shit is weak.
