    Shouldn't there be a plastic/vinyl vapor barrier between the door and the door panel? I do not recall if mine have that but I am interested in your reply.

    Yeah but I don't think its super necessary if you don't drive in the rain (i.e. CA/Southwest). Plus, I think incorrectly installed membranes can actually trap water, and they are pretty expensive for what they are ($40 each for OEM). There is an aftermarket version on pelicanparts for $13/pair (both doors) but apparently it's missing a cutout that can cause the water to be trapped as mentioned above.

    Thanks for sharing. I’ll add... as many screws as you removed, you missed one. It is a small screw you access with the flip up armrest up. The screw holds the carpeted pocket piece to the door pull. If you had removed the screw, the pocket section would have come right off and so would the pull handle. That reduces the risk of breaking anything. Thanks again!

    Nice video this. Door cards as you rightly say can be a pain with all the screws. As for the noises in the mirror motor , maybe they used alloy gearing rather than the nylon ones they use in today's motors. Possibly the grease has dried out a bit? Hey there! Very appropriate and well timed video - just drove my Carrera from Atlanta to Amelia Island for the Porsche Werks Reunion and noticed that I have the same problem with my cab ... now I know how to make the adjustment and problem solved. Although, my passenger door glass has come unseated from the lift rail - there is a piece of rubber that wraps around the edge of the glass and compression fits in the rail. My rubber is old and no longer “sticky” hence when I go to lower the window the rail goes down but the window does not. Any advise on how to secure the glass to the rail?

  • @sportscarnut

    Tip: I recall that to have ready access to the 2nd screw at the edge of the door cubicle it is easier to remove the compartment by undoing a screw attaching it to the tilted armrest/handle.

  • @HeidiandFranny

    @HeidiandFranny

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Tom, I don't think it is the bolt... It always seems to be tight. I think it is just a flaw in the design of the stop. You can see the whole panel flex when the window stops and I'm guessing after enough ups and downs it just hammers it enough to be out. You might want to try some blue lock tight on the actual plate... Didn't think of that. Just adjust it to the bottom (more open than closed) limit to give it some wiggle room over time.

    Hi!! Maybe you can help... reattached the lock sensors and put the door handles on. Prior to removal, everything worked perfectly. ***. pass side sensor clip is broken and did not snap on, i wrapped electrical take so it IS secure and i can hear it responding. this is what’s happening: 1- Both doors will unlock simultaneously from either side with key. 2- doors will NOT LOCK either door with keys, not 1 door or both simultaneously. 3- when ignition is on and doors are locked center console button will unlock them. but WILL NOT lock them. 4- when ignition is off and doors are unlocked, pushing the console lock button, door locks make a sound as if they are trying to lock but doors don’t lock 5- when ignition is off and doors are locked, pressing the center console lock button, doors doesn’t make a sound ...nothing! could it be the broken clip on passenger side sensor?...even though Im getting some sounds from it? do i have the handles on wrong?

    Another great video. I've rebuilt & adjusted the manual window mechanisms on my '71 Targa and it is just as fiddly but it sure is satisfying when you make them work as they were designed to. One question. The 1971 has a plastic moisture barrier between the door panel and the metal of the door. Does the 3.2 also have one? I couldn't see it in the video.

    HI Franny - I have to make this same adjustment to both my windows with one exception - the passenger side has an issue with the glass coming out of the lifting rail. Upon inspection, it appears to sit in a piece of rubber similar that I am sure when new was sticky and held the glass in only by compression. Now the rubber is dirty and old and the glass slides right out. Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this without using silicone or other glues?
