I'm guessing that the steel structure didn't change between the 986 & 987 in that area where it mates up to the body. Someone on Planet 9 site did a flow test on the 987 airbox and it has the ability to support 420 HP; not that we'll get there naturally asperated anyway.

I knew that air box could come out !!!

Hello, thank you for the beautiful series of videos. I want to make the same modifications to my 2000 Boxster S. But one thing are not clear to me. Maybe you can help please. Was the air-fuel mix too lean with the original software? And was the air-fuel mix good with the special edition software or also too lean?

If I remember, the mix was pretty good with the anniversary tune. Shortly after, I had a custom tune done on it which made a substantial difference.

@@NewArt1 okay thanks, Then I'll have to look to a custom software. I guess the anniversary tune is not possible because i haven't vario cam.

I have a 2000 S. Will any 987 airbox work? I'm looking on ebay and some look different than others. Thanks!

I took a look on eBay . I think that they may look different as they are shot from different angles. Some may include the MAF sensor which clips on to the box.

You were right, some had the MAF tube and snorkel, others just had the box. Thanks! I have all my parts in and Im ready to do: Throttle body, plenum, airbox, air oil separator, underdrive pulley, short throw shifter and front engine mount. Wish me luck!

Dont you think , the first step of any work starts cleaning the area ?

Were I to do it again, I would either remove the intake manifold before the airbox removal, or better yet, drop the engine a few inches (which is not that difficult) to give more clearance.

Omit the box all alone and just install a cold air intake!
