Bruh, Great job. Loved how you took your time and took care of the other areas while the engine was out. I need to get a lift in my garage!

Well done Xavier! How many miles on the motor when you did this service? Surprised the cam had partially spun and although rare, I know this can happen to low mileage 997.1 turbo motors too.

Hi, thanks for the detailed review! Helps a lot as I'm planning coolant pinning, as well as fixing the camshaft as I have the popular 21 code. Question: did you notice any chance in performance/response having the camshaft fixed and pinned?

Not a problem. After I had the camshaft sleeve fixed I did notice a change in performance; however, I am not 100% sure if it was due to me performing the cam sleeve repair OR if it was due to making sure everything was sealed up proper upon re-assembly. When I did this work to the car, it was only about 90 days after I had purchased it. After I had bought it, I just drove it around for a bit but never really did any diagnostic or verification of anything... primarily the intake charge system which is very prone to leaks. After I did everything and put it back together, I verified a sealed charge system by way of the common boost leak test. I tightened everything up as needed to eliminate any and all air leaks. The change in performance might have been due to that. Keep in mind that my camshaft sleeve was only partially rotated, so oil could still flow through those holes, just at a reduced rate. If you have the 21 DTC, I would first look at your camshaft deviation #'s and verify that they are within specification prior to doing any tear down. This way when you go back together, you can compare the values and see whether you brought it back closer to its tolerance.

@@NSXavier997 thanks for that, really helpful. I will save the deviation graphs prior to pinning the shafts.

Nice work bro! Where did you buy timing locking tool? What size of pipe for pinning the cams? Thanks
