32HP more, but being a 4door it weighs more,m5 was built for family and sometimes fun, where porsche has one purpose speed, and in my opinion it's not really shining in this battle.

i'm sorry it's only 435hp to the Porsche, 475 is the 991 gt3 power..so you see it's 77bhp, ok the weight is widely in porsche favor but as i told the m5 got the SMG II gear box while GT3 the conventional manual, in each gear change the Porsche lose several milliseconds to the M5, and the GT3 it's not really about straight lines, it's a race track car, bring the 997 Turbo and you will see how it will slay the M5, though the M5 is still a beast.

All this is, is a power to weight ratio race... The M5 has much more power but also much more weight! The GT3 is lighter with less power. It's about even, until you hit the turns!!! ;-)

was a pretty damn good race. thats what i love most is seeing two top speed cars battling it out even if one isnt made for what its doing. or both!

GT3 is for the track not for straight line racing. But still im surprised that it car keep up with m5. 6 vs v10

3000 vs 4000 lbs... 2 doors vs 4... the BMW is more aerodynamic at high speeds, its so long and slippery. That's why it beats so many "faster" cars on the highway.

@@oneman7638 the transmission is shit, the vanos has a lot of problems and that car burns like 20 litres of fuel/100km. i know somebody who had their m5 at bmw for about 6 months and they couldnt figure out an electric problem it had.

The V10 really becomes alive at high revs and speed, That's probably why it won the race. O - 60 in the E60 M5 is 4.5s and for the Porsche is probably under that. If they started from stand still the Porsche would win. I still find it incredible that a heavy luxury 4 door saloon can compete in the supercar/hyper car category and yet drive a family of 5 comfortably. Just test drove an 2006 E60 M5 a few days ago and planning on getting that next. Would be a nice upgrade from my current 2001 E39 525i. Maintenance would drain wallet but then I would be driving something unique. The last breed of natural aspirated V10 that bmw has and will ever make.

Depends on the situation. Normally i would chose the gt3, because it is a great sportscar, which is very light and fast. But you will need a second car for everyday things.(e.g family,driving to work,need of a big trunk).So the M5 combines driving for fun and everyday needs :) .But if i could choose sportslimousine it would definitly be the Porsche Panamera, because it has a great acceleration and is quite light for an limousine :)

What actually is happening here is the Porscha driver can't shift for shit. That's the only reason the bmw is winning this. And the GT3 was never made to be a drag killer, that's not its job. It's a pure track car, and will rape any bmw imaginable on a closed circuit like a schoolgirl. Get a 997 Turbo for the straight-away. PDK. Gonna eat that beemer for breakfast.

Yes, but M5 is 507HP, GT3 is 415HP, its 100HP less. M5 is most powerful version of E60, if you will compare it with most powerful version of 997 (530 HP vs 507HP) then Porsche will smash M5.

LOL..... Pretty cool.....a luxury sport sedan big engine heavy weight vs small engine lightweight = same speed. But the Porsche looks like a "Base" GT3 3.8 so should be around 430hp vs V10 Bimmer 500hp.... interesting. I'd rather be in the Bimmer cause it's "cheaper" and more practical. Just like a Nissan GTR would be. haha....

+Lore Nick every 60000- 80000 miles you would need a new clutch, flying wheel basically a new trans. other than that, nothing has gone wrong in mine. it costes at around $7000. it's not regular car, so when you get a car like this, you expect the maintance costes, and money for gas.

you clearly have never driven one. it was quite close considering 4 less cylinders. Just close period. The m5 is much more comfortable cruising high speed but the gt3 is the ultimate drivers car. Satisfying, intense, razor sharp, murder on a track.

+sami Herz Don't know what video you were watching but the BMW pulled on the Porsche at the end of all the runs...The Porsche didn't win any of the runs just got slightly ahead a couple of times just to be pulled on.

Its just cos the M5's SMG transmission is shifting way faster than the GT3 driver ever could with a manual... GT3 is still way sicker

Lmao! I track both my e63 m6 and gt3. My e63 was running ck c/o and swift springs, -3 front camber on cup tires. It was fun for a gt car, but it's equivalent to a Camry on track. The m6 however had a great top end that can keep up with my c6 z06 once past 130.

Test on Track, the BMW will suck!!! ;)

BMW's top end is unlike anything in it's class. I'm not a fanboy, I just think it's really impressive how they manage to pull the HP out of the higher gearing. My S4 dies after 120mph..

These are two legendary cars right here! The rolling start is the M5's turf though, if it was a race from the dig the Porsche would own it. Love them both though!

Where did I mention anything about the GT3?? Ofcourse, everyone knows GT3/GT3 RS and GT2 RS come with 6 speed manual only. I was talking about the SMG transmission in the M5. It is crazy slow for an automated transmission since it falls back everytime the SMG shifts.

I wonder what year is the 997 GT3 is it a 997.1 or the 997.2 with 450hp?I had a 2009 M6 and yes is def a FAST car that will easily do 200+mph delimited and to the guy with the tricked out M4 (unless you swap a set of larger turbos)....I honestly don't think you will stand a chance up against any the M5/6....Even my current Boxster S was running side by side with a stock M4......

theres 600 american M5's that come as a 6 speed but the revs are limited to a lower number and you cant turn off the traction control

How is it not practicle putting a v10 in the M3, its been done a few times. And as for the handling suffering.., with only 5kg of difference in fully dressed engine weights dont see how that could happen. Do you?
