Porsche still sells those speakers. So you don't necessarily have to do this operation. They are not that expensive for a factory part from Porsche approximately 50$

Good to know, my 996’s amplifier broke, was thinking of getting an aftermarket but I rather get the factory amp and speakers if necessary and keep the car looking factory.

@@hectorfuji originality is preferred. Your amplifier can be repaired. There are many services available across the country. If you're a PCA member check the periodicals they send or on-line. I just found a guy local to me that repairs becker stereo components but there are many.

@@randominternetuser2888thanks for the useful information, I was thinking about amp repair possibility, will check further. Had the car for a while, stored, Only 25k on the odometer, recently started to work with it and will join PCA as I know it will help a lot.

Could you please share what year 996 this was done on? I have a 2003 with the Bose system and I've been told that there was a change that year to a new type of spear wire and so I'm curious if that's what you are working with or if it's the pre-2003 system. Thanks!

I also have an 03 996 w/ bose. The wire you're worried about is a fiber optical wire.

Fair play but I’ve never been so nervous for someone with a soldering iron in their hand
