Porosity Formation in the Keyhole Mode | FLOW-3D WELD

Ғылым және технология

This FLOW-3D WELD example demonstrates how porosity is formed during the laser welding process when the keyhole mode is used. The keyhole mode occurs in response to high energy density and rapid metal evaporation. This creates a recoil force that allows for deep penetration of the workpiece by the laser beam and effectively traps the laser rays, increasing absorptivity. FLOW-3D WELD enables observation of the porosity creation mechanism by looking at the velocity inside the melt pool, detachments of the explicitly modeled voids, and tracking of the collapsed voids with void particles.
