Porcupine Tree - Dark Matter Live

Музыка

Steven Wilson:
"For me, tracks like "Every Home Is Wired" and "Dark Matter" totally transcend both genre and comparison. Finally, I think we are making a completely original and 1990s form of music, but which still has its root in progressive music."

Richard Barbieri is really underrated I think. He may not be a very technical keyboard player like Jordan Rudess, but he is a master when it comes to creating soundscapes and filling up the empty spaces of the music with so much atmosphere.

Totally. I'm a big fan of both Rudess and Barbieri and the latter is so important to the mood, the atmosphere, the ethereal spaces. I've heard tones and textures from Barbieri that I've ever nowhere else and they contribute hugely to those deep, lost-in-headphones moments late at night.

Yeah, as a metalhead back in the day I never understood this, as a grown-up musician now, I see its real meaning, I even saw the importance of it when I downloaded soundscapes sounds made by Barbieri himself, it's absolute genius work...

Man there is a lot of headspace in this song for you to wander in. They pull you in, and let you drift, then pull you back, and set you adrift, over and over. It amazes me how they create such a feeling of depth and space, yet closeness. This song is like trying to touch the stars.

Dark Matter in 7/8, and The Start of Something Beautiful in 9/8 verse and 5/8 chorus is an interesting mix of rhythms. They make odd times seem so natural. It gives their music a unique feel. I know how important story craft is to writing fiction. PT does a great job with song crafting.

The year is 2037. December 31. 08:19 pm. On April 13, 2029 Earth was hit by the Asteroid Apophis. The destruction was overwhelming. We, the survivors, are hiding in caves waiting for the planet to recover. That's all we can do. Wait... On other news, Steven Wilson, who were cryogenically preserved and had to be brought to life after the event, joined Justin Bieber and both are now happily releasing prog-pop-ish songs and making loads of dough. Literally. Money no longer exists.

My first ever psychedelic rock song. Discovered them years ago. I wasn't even a psychedelic fan back then, but this particular song just gave me chills, it just hits me right in the feels man. I didn't care to explore their other songs, because again, I wasn't a psychedelic fan, I was more into heavier stuff, and I stumbled upon this song by accident. About a year ago I discovered Pink Floyd and became a huge fan of them until now. But suddenly I realized that THIS is actually my first ever psychedelic song, and going back to this video, I still feel the same thing as I did when I heard it for the first time. I'm definitely gonna try listening to more Porcupine Tree songs from now on

It came from my friend, I never cared at first . As a grown up metalkid, I never found music is so touchy. May this group reassemble again. May we can see them live again!!! Music is not for all, it's divine , it's itself a blackhole that can take all the universe, so it also can make you cry, make you laugh!!! Good job Steven,Gavin & others(I forgot to google to know their name!!).

+Paul Dykstra But what makes early PT so great is the way he did play around with production...unlike the music he does today which sounds more straightlaced and less high tech than 90's PT or No-Man. Raven... is amazing though.
