Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize
Фильм және анимация
Artist: Porcupine Tree
Album: Fear Of A Blank Planet
Genre: Progressive Rock
Year: 2007
Lyrics:
A good impression of myself
Not much to conceal
I'm saying nothing
But I'm saying nothing with feel
I simply am not here
No way I...
Shut up, be happy
Stop whining please
Because of who we are
We react in mock surprise
The curse of "there must be more"
So don't breathe here,
Don't leave your bags
I simply am not here
No way I...
Shut up, be happy
Stop whining please
The dust in my soul
Makes me feel the weight in my legs
My head in the clouds
And I'm zoning out
I'm watching TV
But I find it hard to stay conscious
I'm totally bored
But I can't switch off
Only apathy from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Electricity from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Only MTV, cod philosophy
We're lost in the mall
Shuffling through the stores like zombies
What is the point?
What can money buy?
My hand's on a gun
And I find the range, God tempt me
What did you say?
Think I'm passing out
[x2]
Only apathy from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Electricity from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Only MTV, cod philosophy
Water so warm that day (water so warm that day)
I counted out the waves (I counted out the waves)
As they broke into shore
I smiled into the sun
The water so warm that day
I was counting out the waves
And I followed their short life
As they broke on the shoreline
I could see you
But I couldn't hear you
You were holding your hat in the breeze
Turning away from me in this moment
You were stolen as black across the sun
Water so warm that day (water so warm that day)
I counted out the waves (I counted out the waves)
As they broke into shore (as they broke into shore)

After 6 years and 6 months still the best song I have ever heard
This album is so epic my soul can barely contend with having heard it.
One of the best songs of all time period, it's well crafted, it offers everything you want in a prog song. 🤘🤘.

Cela fait une éternité que je n'ai pas entendu une pièce musicale aussi significative et chaque seconde d'attente en valait la peine. Génial!
I'm a metal head. Like I only listen to classic metal, like Slayer, Maiden, Priest etc. But I can't stop listening to this song. It's so freaking good! It's a brilliant piece of music, genius! And the drums! Omg!!!

these guys were born geniuses, understanding music at a higher level than any of us normal people ever could. I personaly feel like they understood music at a much deeper meaning than we do, thus which they created this masterpiece.
This song is the real deal......
If perfection does exist. This is it.
There are a few epics in rock history that will take you on a journey and leave you dazed and the finish leaves you down on the ground. Starless by King Crimson, Larks' Tongues (Part 1) by King Crimson, Shine on (all parts) by Pink Floyd, and this wonderful, wonderful piece, Anesthethize. On headphones, listening to the coda makes me feel hollow and depressed. Powerful music.

Masterpiece...
Anyone else feel like the structure of this song is close to Gates of Delirium from Yes?
I always knew this was a great record, but this song specifically... I didn't realize its greatness until yesterday when I blazed and decided to listen to this while out and about just as the sun began to rise. The whole record was great, but I kept replaying this track. Replayed Sentimental too, just not more than once. Criminally underrated group.
Truly awesome....
Out fricking standing!

lol its actually not that hard to find songs that long or more A lot of prog bans have some 15-25 minute long song because I guess it was kinda the trend, not a bad trend if its well made tho, but some stuff tryed to hard and felt pretentious and nowdays kinda outdated, luckly we got this song sooooo

@joseluissuarez2673

Completamente de acuerdo con Ramiro. Esto es prog de altísima calidad, y con todo lo bueno que es este álbum, Deadwing es mucho mejor.
The build ups are masterful but they don't result in anything inventive.

Can't believe people call this band prog. So far, all I hear is an alt rock band and this is basically a 17 minute alt rock song, only one slightly proggy part during the whole song and it was very short.
@thanatos_0.

You can't judge a band by one song. You're right, this track isn't Prog proper. Try their 'Mellotron Scratch' for a decent example of their Prog.
Alex Lifeson's solo is simply perfect!
