Porcelain veneers

#shorts Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that a dentist bonds to the front of your teeth. The veneers change the color and shape of your teeth. Veneers can fix crooked teeth, discolored teeth, and also close spaces between your teeth

    Before dental implants became mainstream (mid 1990's or so) the usual way to replace a missing tooth permanently was a fixed bridge.

    I feel like people who get this should only do so if the absolutely have to, it’s an extreme measure that many people ruin perfectly good teeth for, please don’t recommend this procedure just as a whitening procedure as many doctors do…

    @@VeryNiceSmileDental that's because they have to pound each layer of gold leaf by hand and it's quite expensive And mostly because that's the only material that they have back then that they known of that it will last The wooden one aren't as good And all of the tools that they have were a Chisel, and pain killers don't exist or even anesthetics so they would be using alcohol to knock the patient out so that they wouldn't feel a thing (and it would all be done by a barber because dentist is not a separate job back then)

    Hi, how much reduction is needed depends on the teeth. If the teeth are small and have large gaps between them, then little is any reduction will be needed. If the teeth are crowded together and out of position, quite a bit of reduction may be needed.

    @VeryNiceSmileDental- *Side question- 🙋‍♂️ Can palatal veneers present great cosmetic outcomes? Why aren’t they presented as much?

  • @VeryNiceSmileDental

    @VeryNiceSmileDental

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi, a palatal veneer describes a veneer that covers the palatal surface of a tooth. The palatal surface is the part of an upper tooth that faces the roof of the mouth. That part of the tooth is not visible when you smile. People with bulimia sometimes get palatal veneers due to acid erosion of the enamel on that part of their teeth. If a veneer covers both the lip side and the roof of the mouth side of a tooth, it's usually considered a "crown". I hope I answered your question. Let me know.

    Hi, to cover the back side of the tooth, the tooth needs to be drilled away to make room for the crown material, you can't just place it over the top of the tooth. The tooth would no longer fit the bite.
