This EP had so much fricken energy. It amazes me that Poppy presents herself with such a nice and floaty voice in her KZread videos and unleashes the beast in her music. Eat blew me off my feet from just shear noise, like this is a loud project. I really enjoyed it though and it definitely shows off Poppy's screaming chops to the max. If you enjoyed this video, leave a like! Have a beautiful day! Bye!!!

eat is about her eating disorder and say cheese is about her faking a smile through those times, at least that's how I interpret them

A very interesting fact about this EP is that it was entirely produced by Poppy herself. Her album Flux that you reacted to was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, a very talented producer who worked with the likes of Paramore and other rock acts. It's just impressive that she was able to handle such a experimental sound on her own.

I don't think it's a coincidence that she solely produced this and it's already generally regarded as some of her best work. Not to say the producers she works with aren't also amazing, but if this is the result of Poppy at the helm of her own work then I think it goes to show how talented she truly is because most of this EP is SO masterful

@@hypochondriahall I mean, although I do like the EP, I don't think it's her best work. Poppy has always been the type of artist to not stick to a sound, yet many people were mad that Flux wasn't like EAT. I personally don't care how experimental her music is or isn't, as long as it is good, and I enjoy most of Flux as it is. Actually, her debut album is her only project I mostly dislike. I would like for her to take more creative control, though. It certainly pays off. Also, it's such a punch in the face of Titanic Sinclair that once commented that she could barely play a guitar, so she wasn't a true artist.

I love your reaction! EAT is my favorite album (EP) by anyone, by far. It's as harsh (and clean, and riffy and hooky) as it needs to be to carry and deliver the deeply important messages she has for us all here. A++ I'm so looking forward to your reaction to I Disagree!

It's an awesome EP! I love it....but... the mix is odd, the mastering also odd, and the sound quality is just not on par with I Disagree ...I think there's a reason it was only released on cassette, it sounds more natural through a bit of analogue hiss and some dolby, otherwise it's too sharp. I would love to hear a fully remastered version, or get hold of the mastertapes/tracks. It could sound incredible. I say that as a massive Poppy fan with every album on vinyl (although the I disagree master-wav files sound _much_ better than the vinyl does, but that's a gripe for another day)

As someone who struggled with that too it totally « made sense » to me but I genuinely didn’t think it was about that (obviously the title is EAT but it could’ve always been about something else)

I have ed and for me when I saw the lyrics it just made sense but I thought it was just my interpretation of it, until I saw her saying it was actually about ed and about her experience

EAT is about her struggle with an ED (Eating Disorder) ! which is why its so morbid. she also preformed EAT at the grammys !!

1:02 Loved your face when you realised what she was talking about. It is really a very morbid and venomous song behind the "upbeat" production and quite cathartic in a way because it never fails to help me let out all of my own rage LOL

Poppy sure never allows the grass to grow under her feet and as such she constantly creates new and interesting sounds and lyrics. You asked us what our favorite song(s) are from this EP,well I like them all. The I Disagree album is one of the very best LPs of 2020 and the deluxe version with 4 added songs ranks as one of the best made in the last 10 years in my opinion. Poppy and those she works with are as a collective, put simply are genius in what they do and have created something so wonderful that they can not be pigeonholed in any way ,so defining Poppy as a genre type is mostly pointless. Poppy rocks!!!

Great review! I Disagree (More) - the four songs on that were my favorite for a long time until this EP came around. This is still one of Poppy's nicest collection. Dark Dark World may be my least favorite off the album, but its still really good. Choke was extremely experimental for the time when she was just stepping out her box. Then Stagger and Flux came around and I started to lose interest. Haha just wasnt my jam. Then now we have Zig which was industrial pop, which was extremely good imo, even though it took a few listens to grow on me. Now we have her collabs with Bad Omens and Knocked Loose (Check them out!) I have a feeling were going heavy again.

Also lol "Is Poppy political?" YES ! As someone who has been a fan of her since 2016 and who admins all the Poppy facebook groups, that made me laugh. She has always been deeply political before she even started doing music. If you ever get a wild hair, she has some really funny youtube videos from way back in the day. I wish I could remember everything right now, but one that stands out to me, one of her videos is she strums her guitar and immediately says completely dead pan "I hate music" It always makes me laugh. Not a "political" moment, but just a funny one.
