Popping Boba Drink Strawberry & Dragonfruit - Weird Stuff in a Can # 193

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a can of bubble tea that I picked up in TK MAXX recently - I have never really been a fan of blob drinks in the past - will this one be an exception? I've got stuff being rebuilt in the house, so this episode is in the garden.

Glass straw. That’s a neat idea. Properly reusable and doesn’t break down after leaving it in your drink for longer than five minutes. I also don’t really like it when drinks give me a solid piece all of a sudden. Ice, boba balls, and pulp just make me go “Eugh. Nasty.” But maybe if I were to get a hold of this stuff maybe that will change! :)

I actually like boba personally (though I prefer the classic brown sugar and milk+tapioca version over popping boba tea, but I'll get the latter too on occassion) and I honestly haven't found a good canned one yet. I prefer to make them at home. Especially since you can control the sugar that way (it's usually just flavored syrup) Though this one actually looks okay, nice it has actual popping boba instead of these gross blobs.

It's kind of a shame that almost all drinks that aren't marketed as sugarfree or reduced sugar have about 10%. Imagine filling 10% of your morning cup of tea or coffee with sugar, kind of ridiculous. And so many of those drinks would actually taste better if they weren't as sweet. Add in that sugar free drinks are usually sweetened to or past that level and it's hard to get non-sweet beverage that isn't just plain water (and if I want that I'll use a tap)

We have a small range of Popping Boba in my store. For whatever reason, the dragonfruit one is the most difficult for our scanners to pick up on. Red ink on a pink label being difficult for a red laser to find, most likely.. We also have milky boba teas with the tapioca spheres within them as well as some coffee boba too. I honestly recommend the Popping Boba series as an introduction to blob drinks in general. Nothing as thick as what one would expect in an aloe drink or as chewy as the tapioca balls. Given you're all right with having gelatin, of course.

Those canned boba drinks are quite a poor representation of a freshly made drink from a boba shop. The traditional base is usually tea like your oolong there and then you can add stuff but you don't even have to have boba in it! There is a ritual when you order where you have to state how much ice and sugar you require. My favourite is oolong with freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit with little ice (more to drink) zero sugar and tapioca balls plus grass jelly. So it doesn't have to be sweet as hell. Glad to see you're coming round to the idea

Ive boughten 4 different flavors of bursting boba for my grandkiddos and my neice for Christmas one year. They came in 2 packs so the kids each got a flavor and the other 4 were for the adults to use. They were a hit with both adults and kids. The peach and blueberry were my favorites but my neice adores mango lol I did add mine to an adult wine beverage to make a sangria type drink smd they were nice. I also like the harder chewy brown sugar tapioca tupe boba nit not in tea but iced coffee. I buy trader joes frozen boba kit and add to my own coffee. I have bought the droed big bag of boba and cooked and added my own brown sugar syrup and we froze individual little packets but the the kids do not like it as much as myself and my daughter. But the cook yourself ones are very very economical to make and use. Just freeze the individual portions as it makes quite a lot. Amazon carries them and almost evety Asian market near me does also . They should be kinda easy to find in the US if you habe any Asian markets.

I'm curious what you would think of other common toppings, like fruit pieces, agar boba, tapioca boba, pudding, jelly (pieces), other jelly (like jello), pudding (like flan), red bean, sago, and other modifications like cheese foam. If there's any boba shops nearby, I would love to see a taste test. I maybe you could DIY some too.

One thing I like to do (and started when I visited a frozen yoghurt place) is to buy the popping boba and add them to desserts - ice cream, waffles etc. as they add a nice little pop of colour and flavour, and you can easily mix and match. There's a wide variety of flavours available and they seem to still be fine after opening for a long time in my experience Though I have never had boba tea XD

The bubble tea & little boba tapioca fish pearly blobs have become very trendy here in the US . "by trendy I of course mean outrageously overpriced”. Like my old friend the "Nouveau sophistico Avocado" I loved the Thai version of the boba tea (Cha Nom Yen) its creamy and spiced and I still prefer it, 20 years after fist trying it.

Now I understand why it says, children and old people should be supervised. I love garden peas, but funnily enough, i cannot eat petit poi's, because they stick in my throat and I start to choke. This drink would be ideal for me without the blobs 😂. Thank you for the video, very interesting stuff.

Not me drinking one of these (well the peach one anyway) right now and this pops up in my youtube feed! They sell them at 5 below around here. In my opinion the peach one is really good, the tea flavor comes out more and works better with the peach juice.

I personally hate pulpy orange juice, but I love popping boba. The texture of the alginate is very different to unfiltered orange juice, and something about popping the boba with my tongue on the roof of my mouth negates the surprise of Sudden Unexpected Texture!, which is part of what I dislike about pulped orange juice. Not that there's textures, necessarily, but that the change in texture is sudden.
