----------------------------
Popoli or rather, Popoli Terme as it is now known, is located in the Pescara province of Abruzzo and has been our hometown for the last 5 years. We feel it has been rather overlooked as a tourist destination when, in actual fact, there is so much to see and explore.
Local guide and historian Bruno di Tommaso took us and our group of English speakers up to Castello Cantelmo where he gave us access to the towers and an insightful talk on the history of the castle and Popoli.
Mario Lattanzio, Arciconfranternita SS. Trinita allowed us access to the Chiesa SS. Trinita not usually open to the public. Now that was an eye-opener. Not only is it beautiful and historically fascinating along with some mind-blowing works of art, but you can also see mummies! Yes mummified ancient Popoli people!
You may be surprised at the diverse and historically rich sites Popoli Terme has to offer, we try and cover most of them in our video including: the Castello Cantelmo, Taverna Ducale, Palazzo Ducale, Chiesa di San Francesco, Chiesa SS. Trinita, the birthplace of Corradino D’Ascanio the inventor of the Vespa… yes, he was from Popoli!
Now with the future development and transformation of Popoli Terme’s ‘Terme Inn’ to include a huge wellness and Spa centre with access to everyone perhaps this fabulous town will attract the numbers of visitors it deserves.
Hope you enjoy this video of our day out in Abruzzo. Please do subscribe to our channel if you haven’t already; it means a lot to us. Grazie! ♥️

Grazie! ♥️

Thanks for the video! I thought Popoli looked very interesting, but I was encouraged by the man who was showing me a house elsewhere, to not look in Popoli. He thought it wasn't worth looking around, but I found it very convenient with the train station readily available.

Glad you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm sure the man encouraged you not to look in Popoli if he had a house elsewhere. Have you already bought anything? There are so many properties available in Popoli and also on a private basis so you can avoid paying agents' fees. It's definitely worth looking around if you want access to a great infrastructure and facilities yet a quiet town with great road/motorway connections, a very central location in Abruzzo from which it is so easy and quick to access anywhere within the region either by bus or train from its very own station, or just walk into the parks from the town and immerse yourself in nature. Also a great investment opportunity now as Popoli Terme as it's now called is the only place with a Terme in the whole of the region and you can also easily let out your property on a casa vacanze or B&B basis to all those accessing treatments there as there just aren't enough rooms in Popoli. 😊

Ciao from Lille in France, I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time and lot of emotions watching it. Popoli, the beautiful village what my mother and grandparents had to leave to live in the grey of northern France. Small detail, we hear slightly the popoli carillon at 2mn 10s and the swallows of Popoli during the interview of Luca. 😉 I had the privilege of entering the "chiesa di Saint Francesco" on the eve of its reopening after repair following the last earthquake. "Chiesa della S Trinita" was closed, under construction. a pleasure to discover its interior, thanks to your video. Simpatico questo Signore Bruno . Ciao Bye

@@ExploringAbruzzo Thank you for your answer. My mother never got over leaving "Popoli". Many had to go abroad. Today, it is paradoxical that foreigners present the village to native people from Popoli 😉. Otherwise, have you planned a second part that will present the natural wonder "i sorgenti di percara" ? I didn't find this sujet in the playlist of the channel. Ciao

@@rubidon59bidon9 The Sorgenti di Pescara are stunningly beautiful, an amazing nature reserve that probably do warrant a film on its own but there is just so much to see, do and explore in Abruzzo. However, we do mention the Sorgenti whilst we are in Caffe Firenze and there are some video shots of it too!

Truly gorgeous video with so much detail. You are right to say that this fantastic city is mainly seen as a place of passage, but it must be said that it is truly wonderful and certainly deserves more attention. Thanks to your video, Popoli Terme (new name) with its beauties will certainly be better known and I am also sure that it will become an even more tourist destination, because from here you can easily reach all the other important places of this fantastic region. Great region with great people like you. Thank you so much for this wonderful video❤

Thanks for the answer! I thought the town looked nice, but I was only near the train station and the town square. I took the train from Pescara to Popoli, and then was picked up by someone to look at a house in Corfinio and another in Vittorito. But as of yet, I have not bought anything. Both houses were sold soon after I saw them, so I missed out. It's exhausting going back and forth for relatively short periods, from the US, trying to find a place. I didn't realize there was a Terme until you said something, so I learned something new. When I was there, in the region, I did try to contact people in various towns, using the numbers on the properties. As you know, that's difficult, too. I'm hoping to come again in the fall, maybe I will have better luck then. Thanks again for posting these useful videos. Jackie

So pleased to hear that you enjoy our videos, that means a lot. Thanks for your lovely comment. With regard to Popoli's Terme Inn it is still currently only accessible with a medical certificate. It will be a few years before it becomes a spa with access for all. Caramanico Terme will remain closed. I'm not sure about other spa/wellness centres. I think there is a hotel in Alanno which isn't too far from Popoli that has a wellness centre and the Hotel Ovid in Sulmona but you may well need to be a guest to access their facilities.

  • @ExploringAbruzzo

    @ExploringAbruzzo

    10 ай бұрын

It's a great idea to rent first and to explore the region so you find your most favourite place to settle. Renting really varies. The closer you are to Pescara and L'Aquila the more expensive it gets. You can end up spending 800 to around 1000 euros on a 2 or 3 bed apartment as we saw from estate agents windows recently. If you are in the countryside then it will be cheaper. Here in Popoli, for example it ranges from around 350 to 600 per month for a 2 to 3 bedroom apartment/house. So glad you like our videos. Thank you for watching and please do subscribe if you haven't already.
