'Popcorn & Peanuts' by Nathan Min and Joe Pera
An old one from 2015 with Nathan Min about a phone app I invented called 'popcorn and peanuts'. It disappeared from the internet so I figured I'd put it back up cause even though its a little long, some parts still make me laugh
Featuring Daniel Simonsen as bartender, Ashley Brooke Roberts, Wes Haney, Robert Dean
DP'd by Kyle Kelley, edited by Marty Schousboe, produced by Tom Hunt, score by Ryan Dann, and directed by me, Dr. Jennifer Melfi

What happened?
There's something super cool and touching about the line "This has been a recording from the year 2015." Almost like the filmmakers intended to wait five years to share this, to create a feeling of nostalgia. Feels like people from the past reaching through time to give us all some friendly advice.

Not quite. This was recorded for Super Deluxe years ago, but then the channel ended. I’ve been hoping for ages that Joe Pera would re-release it on his own channel. But the clip does have a feeling of nostalgia lol.

YES! I mean, yes.
Joe has such a talent for finding the right people to work with. Some of them are great, some are so bizarre that they are either awful or great but it doesn't matter, it just works so well.

Language transitions make for good comedic effect. Especially if you’re like me and you only speak English. It goes from understandable to incomprehensible in a matter of seconds.

I'd like to have a last supper type get together with loads of iconic people. That'd be swell. Have the grateful dead there, pythagoras, thoth, probably some other prophets, maybe Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, fuckin Nikola Tesla, Alan Watts, all the greats.

Well spoken Min. I agree with you completely. I felt liberty when I stopped having my internet.. For once I felt peace. Ugh the PING PING PING noise all the time! The guilt of not answering text on time! The Ads Ads Ads just because I searched up cats eating cockroaches, and now it keeps showing me exterminator and rubber bugs! Google Assistant hearing all my conversations when I talk to my dolls! RESISTANCE!!

I enjoyed watching that on my phone.
The Terminator is real and it’s name is Siri! Such a good skit, but so much truth and warm fuzzy feels watching this.
Ngl this sketch hit me like a ton of bricks, having now spent 11 weeks in quarantine with parents, tho missing irl contact with friends a helluva lot, uh and also that my small-business-mobile-app-developer dad just introduced me to that shop rite popcorn like a day or two ago. Fucking awesome youtube upload timing there, Joe.
Nathan really shines in this one. Wow.
Real nice to see you Joe.
This is excellent. Funny and surprisingly accomplished example of three act structure.
Joe, thank you. Your show has reminded me what the human standard is. I'd forgotten, sadly.
Joe Pera needs his own movie.
All I want is to be friends with Joe Pera. so much chill and pure good energy.

Thanks for sharing this Joe. Little gems like these are what society needs during these tough times.
I want to preserve this man. He's the only reason I'm able to sleep. I don't say that to put him down. But he just helps me feel comfortable. Like if my Dad was still alive talking to me. I'm 36 years old but still find comfort in Joe's voice & calm demeanor. He's really a God sent.

Merry Christmas to you Joe, you're a national treasure..... But it's May my dude.
I just sent this message to my fiancée- "After I met you, I couldn't fathom that a world used to exist for me that didn't have you in it. I just thought about that and tantalised the ongoing truth of what a MASSIVE game changer you have been and continue to be in my life. ♥️" - I want to say that if you change the word 'met' to 'found' and 'you' to 'Joe Pera' and 'have' to 'has', the sentence also makes sense.
How did youtube not show me this on my front page. this is gold.
I could not tell you why, but the shot of his friend slowly stepping down from the bar onto the chair was just... perfect, idk why. Maybe it says like in wreck less but still a lil baby but, it struck me as good
I'm so stoked I could hear on the bartenders accent where he was from. And I'm also very stoked that you actually put some relevant information in the description box, unlike most other creators, so I didn't have to waste hours unnecessarily to confirm my suspicion. Also, thanks for being you, Joe. I'm gonna go throw my phone in the popcorn machine.
The hero we needed
Watching Joe Pera videos is the same feeling as when the barber put a hot towel on your face
"Texting, social media, apps." Genius line.
Pera. Thank you so much. I love watching your videos. They make me so happy. They help me relax. I'm so happy you are in F is For Family now. I hope you get more lines in the next season.
The whole time I'm thinking...who in the first place brings a baby to a bar 🤣
A Perfect Sunday reunion!
I wanna live a simple, humble and serene life like Joe. Maybe in this world and economy is it too much to ask. That's why I cry a little every time I see one of his sketch.
This has certainly given me a lot to think about. It's like a blindfold has been removed from my eyes.
Okay joe, and thanks for all the shows you've done.ive really enjoyed Thema lot.
Still waiting for that one sketch where Joe starts yelling his lung out like R Lee Ermey at someone
Love you joe
Thank you for uploading this again!! 😭❤️ I thought it was lost forever when Jash's channel died! It's one of my all time favorite videos (of yours and in general!!) 😊👍🍿🥜
This is seriosly amazing Joe Pera!
Joe Pera is exactly what we need during quarantine.
Joe Pera puts me in a better mood every time, what a delightful character.
Beautiful direction by Dr. Melfi.
It's good to be positive and keep a good attitude when you're outside. Thank you! Are you listening to me?! Great work, Nathan Min!
Four years, we missed him
Nathan is preaching for apps tinance.
Love you joe hope you’re staying safe
"And the truth is this.. The Terminator is real, and its name is Siri!" Fuckin out of left field! Lmfao!
Oh, that bartender.... these are great
Tbh at first I thought this was just more evidence of Nathan's predeliction for married women. Then it was actually about popcorn. And the Terminator.
Daniel Simonsen! He is perfect for Joe Pera. I was super bummed when they cancelled House of Fools :(
Joe, when you referred to yourself as Dr. Jennifer Melfi I had a good laugh. I'll watch the video now. Thanks for that.
Beginning of the video: Nate's voice is so smooth and tepid. Middle of the video: "WE'RE ALL GOING TO THROW JOE'S PHONE INTO THE RIVER"
I'm an amateur app developer and Joe I'd love to make this app for you. Im taking a gap semester so I'll have the free time
I bet the guy at 4:12 is wishing he had an app to tell him when Min isn't there.
I’m so glad I kept watching this. What a speech.
JOE PERA. You rly need to do your own podcast show!!! WE NEED IT!
Wonderful.
It should have been an app to help find free tomatoes.
"If you had to spend the day with Andre 3000 or Big Boi, who would it be?" "FUCK OFF, ROSIE!" Fuckin dyin 😂😂😂😂
Joe, please don't ever disappear on us again.
I'll never get old of this sketch.
This is deep. I like this.
But seriously, all memes aside, there was actually a very distinct and important message in this. While its funny to us in 2020 because its so correct, its also a very big reminder that we need to turn off technology and be more true to nature
this Nathan Min fella is funny, 4:11 thanks for making this.
Haven't seen Nathan and you together since the perfect week. This is so rad oooooooeeeeeeeeeeee.
Joe you’ve gotten me through some ugly times in life. Your Joe Pera talks you to sleep specifically ❤️
Daniel Simonsen's standup is so funny and definitely worth checking out
Yeah, im with that Nathan guy.
The moment when he said he had his first beer made me laugh lol.
