POPCORN RECIPE
¾ cup popcorn kernels
1 tbsp avocado oil
1 tsp sea salt
Heat the oil in an 8-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Add two or three popcorn kernels into the oil and pop the lid on.
Once the kernels pop, add the rest of the kernels to the pot. Cover the pot, remove it from the heat and wait for 30 seconds before placing the pot back over the burner (this will help to ensure that all your kernels pop at the same time!). Once you hear the popcorn begin to pop, begin to gently shake the pot back and forth over the burner. I usually pick the whole pot up and give it a few intermittent shakes throughout the popping process.
Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat and pour your popcorn into your serving bowl. Season with sea salt and/or any other favorite seasoning. Enjoy!!
NOTES
You can store leftover popcorn in an airtight container for up to 4 days. If you know you won’t be using all the popcorn, season only what you’ll be using so you can store the rest plain.

This is how we grew up making Popcorn 🍿 😋 No chemicals like the microwave bags...
My mom always prepared our popcorn this way and we loved it! The only difference was that once the popping started she kept shaking the pot until the popping was completely done to keep the kernels from burning.

I love popcorn. Thanks to my grandmother I was eating popcorn early in life. My grandmother was part Native American and she made sure we were eating popcorn and blueberries.
I do this weekly, but I use coconut oil because I love the way it gives my popcorn a coconutty taste! Huge fan of putting some NOOCH on my popcorn as well. Yummmmm, gonna go make some now after watching this haha
I bought some popcorn kernels on Wednesday and boom, on Friday you posted a stovetop popcorn recipe! Its as if you knew! Thanks Dani. This recipe is simple and fun to make.
Yes!! We always do stovetop! The best! You can also use coconut oil or leftover bacon grease if you want to live on the edge!😆

YES! I love using coconut oil as well.
Best way to make popcorn!! Been doing it that way for 45 years!!! ❤️
The sea salt in the oil is a nice tip. I’m going to try this! Thank you.
What? There’s a technique to this? I usually left the lid off and my kids and I ran like crazy folk as popcorn shot off into every direction! 😂 In all seriousness, Dani, several of your recipes are in my cookbook! Thanks for being humble. Please, don’t change, no matter how unruly the world gets! Bless you my sister from another mister!

Awe, thank you for your kind words - I appreciate them. Enjoy this technique - it's easy and delicious! Sending all that love right back your way. ❤️
I have been doing my popcorn this way since the age of 16 and its the best ever, love this video
This is the method I grew up with so glad you are sharing it- at times for small batches we also used a cast iron skillet used with a metal lid. Thank you for taking the time to explain some of the “nuances” - when I left home I had a dedicated pot for popcorn as I didn’t always pay enough attention to the temp. so it would sizzle a bit and affect the surface. Nowadays I use an air popper and drizzle with a tad of jalapeño infused olive oil and sprinkle of salt. Thanks for your wonderful and well described recipes.

Hey, Dani! I’ve made popcorn on the stove as well until I discovered the silicone popcorn maker for the microwave. This also uses regular popcorn kernels, but no oil. I will say that I have had differing success with this tool in different microwave ovens, but have figured out the right combination with my current microwave. Whatever method, stovetop or silicone popper, I think it’s better than prepackaged microwave popcorn and much more economical!

YEAH ❤ POPCORN!
Thank you for this. I have used an air popper for years. My mom used to have a dedicated pan to pop popcorn on the stove. What brand pots and pans do you use? I never thought of putting seasoning in the oil before popping the corn. I just purchased a microwave and have one of those silicone poppers that I am going to give a shot today. Again, thank you for this video!!
I make some and my family loved it so much that they ask me to make more 😂😂😂❤❤

Thanks for this Dani! I absolutely ❤️ popcorn 🍿 love it! And I’ve cooked it on the stove- however- I’ve never done it low and slow, nor have I ever tried with avocado oil 🤯 I’m going to try your way next time. Thanks!

I love it as well!! And yes! Low and slow is key!
Yummy
Salt Protip: use fine salt (the size you get from a handgrinder - almost like flour) it sticks perfectly and evenly and there won't be any salty leftover in the bottom. Also no need to put it in from start. PS. If you don't have a grinder, just use a mortar and pestle. This is the way they do it at cinemas.
Nice
I love popcorn . My fav snsck

Hello, and thanks for tips. How to do popcorn with cheese? (if I want everything to be covered with cheese, not just a part)
I could not believe you made this video given that I've been making
Back in the day when I didn't have a lot of money and I had literally one pot with no lid I just put tin foil generously but secured the sides so that when the popcorn popped it allowed it to go up a little bit on the aluminum foil
I add nutritional yeast and sometimes spike.
Once its done I like to add a bit of garlic and chilli powder, other times just a tad of sugar 😋
Thanks! Can I use coconut oil? And can i use the same tecnique with sugar instead of salt?
@jeffj318
2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can.
Add some nutritional yeast yum!
When I was little, many years ago, we would pop a big pot of corn, fold over the top edge of a large paper bag and fill it full. Throw all the couch cushions on the floor and watch a movie. Usually western or the occasional Godzilla! It tastes so much better this way
Super clean and delicious .. keep going nd keep sharing such recipes 🫰🏻💖

Add some cinnamon and sugar at the end - you could do a monk fruit sweetener for a low sugar option.
how to measure the volume of poped corn ?
First time I popped on the stovetop...I put too much for such a small pot and so much came up that the lid got pushed off. Popcorn everywhereeee. Lesson learnt, use a huge pot! 😂😂😂
I forgot I was cooking popcorn and at the end of the movie I had homemade coal
Does your pot get burnt after the popcorn is done?
@CleanandDeliciousDani

No! It shouldn't - you want to cook low + slow :)

Back when I used to drink, I remember getting drunk one night, making popcorn on the stove, and falling asleep on accident. I think the fire alarm woke me up, but it wasn't right away. When I woke, all due to the burnt popcorn on the stove, you would have thought the whole house was on fire. I had to get to the basement, just to think about what to do. I had to duck down when upstairs due to so much smoke. And when I opened the windows, it was huge streams of smoke pouring out. This was due to a little pan of popcorn on the stove. I took the pan outside, let it burn out, and that was the end of the problem. It looked like burning coals in a grill. I only say it as a public service announcement, to be careful with burning popcorn. It generates so much smoke, you may be shocked.
I must be getting old because its hard for me to think of needing instructions on how to make stovetop popcorn. But I didn't get a microwave until my early 20s
Add paprika
Well I would much rather prefer to find this video sooner because I burnt my popcorn to ash.
Step 4. Melt two sticks of butter

Me:JUST BUY MICROWAVE LOL 😂
Shape of that pot is wok; no way every kernel pops without any skin or duds; needs a lot of oil too. Moisture on glass lid= soggy popcorn. By time clean up stove, wash greasy pot, stovetop & bowls U’ve paid more in water bills & time than microwave natural popcorn. I’ve cooked stovetop until the cleanup time & $$ was not worth it
Shit was burnt on the 2nd clip
3rd
Yeah; don't eat microwave-popcorn. Most of it has disgusting chemicals in the bag.
What's the difference between GMO corn and none GMO corn? Apart from the obvious genetic modification
Watching Netflux is very unhealthy
MICROWAVE BAGS ARE DISGUSTING AND HORRIBLE.
