If you've got time to kill, these are the games to play!
I played a bunch of PopCap games in my childhood, so we'll look at a bunch of them today. I have selected just under a dozen games to look at, including Bookworm, Dynomite!, Chuzzle, and Peggle!

By the way, Dynomite is also co-developed by Raptisoft. It was actually one of their first games.
I always thought the PopCap logo looked like those Jiffy Pop popcorn pans you buy at Walmart
All these games are currently on sale until January 5th. Ended up buying them all after seeing this video. Feels nice getting to revisit them after so long.
PopCap did a really good job developing these games, investing deeply into core gameplay and graphics came second (unlike most game developers of today). Do you need detailed graphics to play these games? I don't think so, 1024x768 is more than enough.

Ehh. This sentiment has been around for a long time. I heard the same thing when I was a kid about arcade games and console ports. Then I heard the same thing about the PS1, then the PS2, then the OG Xbox. It was worst with the OG Xbox from my experience. People talked mad shit about it, claiming "graphics over gameplay" even though they just didn't understand the xbox was more powerful and easier to develop for, meaning making good graphics was actually really easy.

The way I see it, as long as the game's visuals properly convey what you're supposed to do and don't hinder your gameplay experience, it doesn't matter how clear or detailed they are. We look at how far graphics have come since the NES and Genesis days, yet many games from those eras have held up visually as well because they add to the game experience instead of hindering it. Most of these games run at either 640x480 or 800x600 (the exception is Chuzzle, which I was able to run at 1024x768), and I don't complain much about the visuals (except Atomica, where some of the atoms are of too similar colors). As long as I can play the game properly, graphics don't bother me to the level many people today do.
