I love this film. Great comedy.
There were open auditions for extras in Sarasota at the time I lived there. My parents went and my dad was picked to be in the movie. He was in the scene of the highway ribbon-cutting ceremony. Right off the scissors, he's in the straw hat with a chain. Then he gets in the white convertible with the ribbon girls. We lived 10 minutes from the bridge they blew up. I thought it was a funny movie. The car wreck at the end was a one-take wonder.

So great that you got to watch it being made! Still think it's a fun movie. Thanks for watching!

Really do love that album!!
I saw this when it started airing on HBO around 1982. Its humor appealed to me as an 11 year old. Friends and I used to quote from it. A few years ago I bought a digital copy to see if it was as funny as I remembered. It may be silly, but I found myself chuckling quite a bit. It has likable, funny actors. Its failure at the box office was undeserved.

This was on ALL THE TIME on cable, and grew to love it. :)
"Ricky the Carnivorous Pony" -> "Licky! Licky! Licky!"
If they thought this was anti-American, I wonder what they thought about National Lampoon's Vacation?

Can't even believe that was a thing.

@@PopCultureRetro I guess they think it's worse to be trapped in a pink town with someone who dresses like Uncle Sam than to be trapped in East St. Louis and have "Honky Lips" sprayed on your car?
I read it was one of the worst grossing films ever and I wondered why because it's always been one of my favorites.
