Shirley was always my favorite. The little Princess movie is also my favorite. The part when she woke up and the Prince across the building window decorated her room with furniture a fire & food & scones. All the beautiful night pajamas & robes & fluffy slippers for her & her roommate. Melted my heart. So I carried out the tradition with my daughter on Christmas Eve when she was a child. I would sneak in her room while she was sleeping and she would have a new rug, robe pajamas & slippers. 😭 She’s 33 now and has stage 4 breast cancer. Life isn’t fair. She is actually doing really good now. It stopped spreading. She’s very active & happy. I don’t know why I shared this.

These movies were made during The Great Depression to cheer up the people and take their minds off of their misery. My mom was born in 1928 and so was Shirley Temple born that year. Going to the movies was an inexpensive treat that my mother’s said her grandmother took her because they got a free dish, it was the Depression glass and they loved anything free of course. Her dad died when she was only 7 years old and her mom had to work two jobs a laundry and a bar at night to house them and feed them. My mom and I watched these on tv in the 50’s.

I used to sing " An ordinary day" to my own daddy, and many years later to my children. My favorite song of hers, that I would sing to my daughter, rocking her to sleep was " What makes life the sweetest" from Captain Jamuary. My daughter who is grown now still remembers that. I had a 33 rpm record of her with most of her songs which I would listen to endlessly as s little girl and sing along with it. Shirley Temple is one of the main reasons I became a professional singer ( along with Judy Garland and Julie Andrews,). I would have liked to be a tap dancer too...but what a klutz!

I'm not in total agreement, reason being since Shirley Temple there have been quite a number of very young talented actors but there have been many more under developed storylines. In the days of the classics, movies not only intertained but commonly had purpose and meaning also they got to the point without fluff and filler. Years passed and very soon Hollywood derailed many young players talents with every turn. Low moral themes, sensational filler, and storylines (scripts) that went nowhere, quantity over quality. Or, that's how I see it.

Love Shirley Temple movies. She was a way star before my time, but I introduced her to my 80s children wondering if they'd appreciate her appeal, and they did, so, I brought my children up on her movies and music, and they love them too. It shows that good old innocent clean entertainment transcends generations.Glory Be!!! 🙏🙏🙏

I moved to Taiwan, in 1994, to teach English. I remembered one of my junior high teachers showing us a classic movie every Friday, so I introduced my students to Temple, Bogart, Flynn, Grant, Martin, Cooper, Rathbone, Mifune....and many others. Most of my students, in my 24 years in Taiwan, went through many of my dvds and then found more films of the actors they liked. Was fun, introducing films from the 30s, 40s and 50s to a new generation

@ You may have a point..but you have remember that it was a different time back than. Everyone loved her so much and wanted to keep her a child as long as they could and she knew when her cuteness wore off she knew that they might not want her as much. I guess that's why she fake the funk a little..

That final number is mind blowing! That such a little girl could nail it so flawlessly and hold her own next to two incredibly talented performers is just incredible. This is my favorite Shirley Temple film. Hands down it’s got it all. She was a special little girl who grew up to be an incredibly hard working adult who lived a life of service to her country. Even if Ronald Reagan was mean to her! jealousy never fades huh Ronny? It was probably Nancy’s fault!😳 😂

When I was little, adored Shirley Temple(Black)! Collected the VHS😬🤭movies in those fun bubbly VHS containers. I was so upset when I found out that my parents had gotten rid of all the movies without my permission or asking me if I wanted them! 😢😡 I am slowly trying to rebuild my collection with DVDs but it's just not the same as those fine VHS bubble holders. I used to tape them on my VHS tapes on a Sunday afternoon. Sometimes I forgot to skip the commercials, sometimes I was late to press pause during a commercial, or record after the commercial, sometimes I didn't start them in the right place and Punky Brewster plays instead, or I accidentally recorded something over part of the movie. On one my dad recorded the final quarter of the football over Stowaway. That's my collection, and I was 8 when I made it!! 😂
