season 44 was a breathe of fresh air just good old no betrayal just sticking to each other till the end

The Tika 3 were just so entertaining. Honestly, casting generally has been pretty good for the new era, but for 44 they really nailed it.

I'm embarrassed it took me way too many "Claire sits out" to google her to realize she didn't get back into the game in some kind of edge of extinction thing

Yam Yam is a master strategist was out shadowed by his own spectacular social game, he always think fast on his toes always ahead of the curve always throwing ideas and managing the damages the best way , and he successfully covered up all his blindsides so perfectly.. time will tell when people appreciates his win more

I loved the guy who pulled the "Jeff, may I offer you a papaya in these trying times?" -- Killer "Its always Sunny in Philadelphia" reference. Knowing that more people around my age are ending up on Survivor and will be spouting out memes and references I get, makes me REALLY happy lol.

Loved looking back at Yam-Yam's journey. He really had some luck in addition to his charm and strategy, he was so close to going home alot pre merge. Sidenote it was awesome that Claire made it so far in the game without competing in any challenges.

Can’t believe the story of my favorite new era winner is out! It’s so refreshing to be able to see a winner’s story on the first watch. Edit: Not discrediting other winners, just their edits.

Nobody: OUAI: CLAIRE SAT OUT OF THE CHALLENGE

Adding onto the “Smart” and “Dumb” labels, what about “Lucky” and “Unlucky” labels? The show does highlight moves by players and their effects, but some things in Survivor are completely random or are events that come out of no where. This could also show just how much of a winner’s/loser’s game is affected by luck.

I considered it, but the reality is that Survivor, the show, likes to label things as smart/dumb and hero/villain and luck is rarely if ever talked about. So to keep it simple I stuck with what the story is usually trying to tell us and rarely does the story try to tell us something lucky happened, even if it is.

I bet Claire sitting out is going to get mentioned every time you talk about this season, like with Billy and Candice 😭

He has the most wonderful personality...it is so endearing ❤

"Claire is an S rank Survivor player who refuses to participate in immunity challenges to win" I nearly blew out a lung laughing at the sarcasm.

A few things: I don't know if it was on your channel, or Peridiam's or Idoled Out, or whoever, but before the season even began, I said "I'm routing for Yam Yam simply because he goes by Yam Yam. No other reason". It seems I prevailed. Also, Claire is such a diva, sitting out when she's not even in the game. Also, Josh sounded like a Redditor when he played that idol.

I was about five "And Claire sat out again" 's deep before I noticed that she had been gone for a few episodes. 😂

The underlying message of the mat theory editing choice did not go unnoticed.

I love survivor and alone shows. Combine please and give Yam Yam a bow.,lol. My hard drive with every episode has died, found your channel and can relive it's death, lol. Would love a job building and creating the challenge course's.

Predictable, yet very solid winner. I remember watching with my wife saying how baffled I was they allowed Yam Yam to make it to the end and unless he completely flubs, there's no way he isn't winning. As modern Survivor continues on, I can't help but find myself getting less and less enthused. My concern is by the time they reach Season 50, the players might as well start singing their ABCs, because it will essentially be Fiji Sesame Street.

Not gonna lie, a part of me was thinking that season 44 would break the mat chat theory. But, low and behold. That being said, Yam Yam earned his win. The Tika Three make this season.

The mat theory is still somewhat accurate in S34 as there was no mat chat that season-as they were in a boat(not a mat)

I just realized when you did jonny fairplays story you voice sounded so high pitched

I did not understand what was happening with Claire sitting out every challenge until like halfway through the post-merge.

I just got into Survivor, because of a coworker pressing it on to me... freaking love it.. and to know the production has gotten so toxic that if you're spoken to on the first day, you have a chance of winning- that's fucked

I kinda think he threw that final challenge to could make fire against Carson.

This season was so scatological. And most of it revolves around Yam Yam and Carolyn. Maybe that's why I couldn't get behind them.

Between Yam Yam being the only mat chat player final 7 on Carson winning every puzzle Carolyn never being targeted And Claire never competing in a challenge, This was the most predictable season in a long time.

It felt like Yam Yam's game was highly reminiscent of Hatch's, except Yam Yam was more of a people-person and didn't rub people the wrong way (pun unintended).

Final 4 immunity results were Heidi, then Carson, Yam Yam, and Carolyn out first in last place. We know what happened with Heidi winning immunity: Her, Yam Yam and Carolyn in Final 3. But what would the Final 3 have been if she didn't win immunity? (I think Tika 3 were all willing to be final 3 fwiw) Carson wins. He likely has Yam Yam go against Heidi, and Yam Yam could've been on board with that since he is great at making fire. But Heidi made fire in record time, so it's likely Carson, Carolyn and Heidi in F3. Yam Yam wins. This is tough. Carolyn looked better at making fire than Carson. Especially as bad/nervous as Carson was when practicing. Heidi would've beat Carolyn or Carson, and the better strategic play is to put Carson against Heidi, but idk that happens. Yam Yam, Heidi and Carson seems most likely to me, but not a lock. There could be a confessional that I'm forgetting that would clarify this. Thoughts, anyone? Carolyn was never winning that challenge so its a non starter. Watch it again if you need to. Heidi was likely making final 3 no matter what. Unless she went against Yam Yam and he set a faster fire record, I guess. She might've been more nervous against him but I'll give her the win since she proved she's elite at fire making. I think Carson was the only person that could've beaten Yam Yam, but unless he wins immunity, or Yam Yam won + didn't put him in fire, I don't think he get's there to realize his potential equity. Great cast. Good season. Interesting dynamics in the final episode. After S43 I was a bit down on the show, but the 44 cast pulled me back in. There's a lot of players from this season that I think should play again. At the least, Matt + Franny, Medivac Matt, Carson, Danny, Kane, Lauren and Carolyn. If you include Yam Yam it's half the cast. Bruce could return too. He deserves a chance to actually play. That's my opinion, fwiw.

Man why did you have to title Yam Yam's journey "poopy in the ocean" 💀 I get it was a quote of his but come on. A better title should've been something like "the social panda" or something badass for him as the winner.

Survivor needs some effort and money put into it. The fact that you could tell Yammy was gonna win cos the other 2 from the intro edit were gone is stupid. The fact that Carson was able to print out the exact same puzzles and practice on cos they refuse to change it up is stupid.

it would be great if you could try to avoid covering the subtitles with your text stuff in the future!

Honestly that fire making was insane looking back. Bc not only did Heidi smash the record, Carson wasn't even that far behind her. I just think it's crazy that those two probably would've beaten any other survivor making fire.
