Random tidbit, lemon oil for guitar necks is not made of lemons, it's mineral oil. The wood on necks get dried out and dirty from your hands and the environment it's in so it's good to apply it every once in a while to keep it healthy and sanitized so it'll play at it's full potential.

There are kind of some laws. You can argue that it was damaged if the smell can't be washed away and then sue for damages. If they can't get the smell out by washing its also almost certainly not truly disinfected. Suing for emotional damages is difficult but could apply in some situations: a good example is if I destroyed the Teddy bear you had when you're a baby, it has zero real value but destroying it hurt you emotionally, same goes for if I somehow traumatized you with it like having sex with it which would leave it not technically destroyed but would also cause emotional damage and make you lose a lot of sentimental value towards the Teddy bear. You can also face some legal troubles for purposefully terrorizing or traumatizing people. All those sorts of cases are kind of tough though since they're difficult to prove or quantify. In this case if they got a divorce or he sued her and won he'd likely just get the value of a new guitar neck or new guitar if he's lucky and possibly just the dollar value of a used neck or guitar if he's not lucky.

A good lawyer could absolutely have done something with this. Id think unless the buyer had a video proving the guitar was thoroughly cleaned/disinfected, his word that it was wouldnt be enough especially when it comes to something like poop in the times of covid. But the buyer did shoot himself in the foot by accepting the initial arrangement and then trying to get rich selling it on eBay lol. But it does all sound really fishy anyway.

I used to work downtown and have a small dog gang at home. Occasionally poop gets stepped on. I wear boots so at home wipe outside in the dirt then clean under hot water with a shoe brush and dawn dish soap. It does work for boots. Downtown on the way to work the danger is horse poop and the occasional homeless poop. The dawn thing still works but tossing the guitar might be alot better.

I only have myself to blame for clicking onto this. You brought back a memory from when I was a teenager, where I grew up, there’s one of those Goodwill stores with the bins, they sell stuff by weight. I went there with a friend of mine, her family shopped there a bit, they didn’t have that much money during that point in time so this was a way they got items they needed. Well, this is where they sell the stuff they obviously can’t put on regular store shelves. I kid you not, I saw pajamas for a toddler in one of the pins covered in poop, I remember a kid seeing it & screaming & giggling at the same time about there being poop in one of the bins & a nearby woman saying something about reporting this store. I went off to look at something else& a complete stranger who was looking at the same stuff I was asked me if I heard about the poop bin. I tried locking away that memory but thanks to this, it has resurfaced but I guess you never forget seeing shit at a Goodwill. As for people coming across others who sold them things, it’s a small world. I actually had that happen not too long ago, I managed to score an extremely hard to find pin like it was a pin from a set that was given out at prizes at an event in Disneyland in 2006, most people who have them aren’t willing to sell them & there’s more people out there who want them so when I found a pin from the set selling on eBay, I sprung at the chance to buy it because I want to collect as many pins from it as possible, it’s from one of my favorite games. So I have that pin secured on one of those window bags so you can show off your pins without fear of losing them & I’m at a con when I wander into a booth selling so many dang pins. They also have some rare pins so I decided to look & see if they had any from the set & asked the guy running the booth, showing him the pin I had. He asked me when I bought it & for how much, I told him & he said that he’s the one that sold it to me, pretty much I already bought all he had from the set, oh well. He did have others he was selling at the time I bought it but none were must haves from the set for me, I have select ones I really wanted from it, the one I did get was $50 so I definitely am limiting which ones I buy. This just shows you that it’s a small world, I’m not surprised at all that a person from that group bought the guitar posted in it.

I've got another small world story for you. I live in the UK and saw that SlipKnot were touring mainland Europe but skipping the UK. The easiest and cheapest gig to go to, then, was in Leipzig, Germany. I got up there, settled into the hostel and went out to wander the shops and get a bite to eat. I went into a rock/metal merch shop and bought a tee shirt. While I was waiting to be served I heard the guy in front of me speak. He had a distinctive Essex/London accent, which is where I live. I spoke to him, asked where he'd come from. Said he was from Dagenham, which is basically up the road from me.

I love how the background music literally sounds like the kind of background music I would expect to hear in a video about shit
