The description has me a little concerned, particularly with the use of the word "infidelity" where in actual fact Shining Armor was more of a rape victim. Based on this, I'm a little concerned this will be more than a bit messed up in having one's kidnapper and rapist force her child on the couple she'd used in trying to take over Equestria.

It's no longer Chrysalis who decides Hornet's identity; it's now Cadance and Shining Armor. It doesn't matter where he came from or how; it's where he is now with two parents who love him and will shape him into something positive as he grows up. Even a rape-conceived child is still a child and worth giving a chance to.

Yes, but there is the ethical and emotional concern of having the rape conceived child taken care of by the the victim and his spouse, after being guilted into taking care of the child by the rapist. Give that child a chance, but with some other parents... as it is I feel it is morally wrong to even ask the victim to take care of the child.

it's a good fic, but cadence was kind of an idiotic ass if I'm going to be blunt. how was shining supposed to know who the fake cadence really was? how is it his fault that he was brainwashed? why did it seem like she was more angry at shining then she was at Chrysalis? and it was super out of character for her to lash out at shining like that.

Some people have to use formula when they either don't produce enough milk or adopt, and there arn't trustworthy sources of donated milk. Not preferable, but the main thing is make sure the kid fed. A fed baby is a happy baby.

To who ever wrote this, I thank you. I just went through a rough week straight of work and was stressed to the point of lashing out. And with just one story, you put a smile on my face and made me remember my special some pony crush. The one I never got to say my feelings to. Its still sad to think of her, but listening to the story helped me to remember why i fell in love with her in the first place. And why i still hope to talk to her again. So thank you.

I don't agree with the rape victim being forced to care for their child, but it's a beautiful story nonetheless. 👍

On the concept of rape victims caring for the kid, its uncomfortable and weird. It's unfair that he has to take care of him, but it's also not fair for the baby to suffer and taking care of him is what I consider correct. Basically, chrysalis has created a scenario where both outcomes are terrible.

So does that sums up why he's like this is because he's starving for love and you refused to give him any!!!"

Great job Scribbler, I know it's gonna be a good story. As soon as I finish it. I feel for Shining, he didn't mean for any of that to happen.

While I liked this story, there was one really big problem with it that really bugged me, that being Cadence's treatment of Shining Armour. It just painfully out of character, but also infuriatingly wrong when you stop to think about it. Imagine just for a second if Shining and Cadence's places in the story were reversed; if Cadance was tricked; brainwashed, and impregnated by a SHAPE SHIFTING MIND CONTROLING LOVE PARASITE. How would Shining Armour, as well as us (the audience) perceive this? The obvious answer is rape. Shining would have the common sense and humanity (equinity?) to see Cadance as the victim; and as her husband he would be fiercely angry on her behalf, not to mention being compassionate and supportive of her. But what does Cadance do in her husband's time of need? She instantly lashes out at him and starts treating him like he just got drunk and cheated on her or something. Hell, she doesn't even direct her anger at Chrysalise, as if the latter was just some random woman Shining knocked up. Instead of showing her husband the love and support he needs; Cadance takes her petty emotions out on him, and makes him feel like he did something as opposed to being done by something. Does she not think that Shining is getting enough of this from himself? That he's not going to have to carry the shame of what he was forced to do for the rest of his life? My point is; that in a misguided attempt to create drama, the author of this story inadvertently portrayed Cadance as an incredibly selfish, petty, and heartless person, and then sweeps it under the rug after she discovers the moral without do much as apologizing to get husband. So yeah, that really rubbed me the wrong way.

I think it is that flaw that makes her fleshed out though. When you combine an unexpected implied betrayal with sleepless nights and a child throwing a tantrum 24/7 it is easy to snap. Cadence learned from it and Shining Armor rightfully called her out.

The description this fanfic used for what happens to Shining Armor is... just... Woah. Impersonating someone to have sex with their partner is rape, calling that infidelity (even "unintentional infidelity") is just... I don't want to ever meet whoever wrote that.

You seem to be missing the whole story for the villain she thought she had a victory to one day proclaim the child she bore rightful heir to a kingdom the father oversees and yet she herself could not give the child everything it needed she could love it but not nurture it such a curse that would be in a sense her sacrificing the child would be justice enough but at the same time it was the single greatest act of love she could give in so many a way to come clean with what she did to give her child a chance to live to grow and become something greater than she could foresee no one is perfect there are people who make mistakes but I think the greatest thing about this story regardless of dark origins is she forgave upon realization of exactly what everything was the things left unsaid that show the greater scheme of things to forgive upon realizing that no matter how hard she was having it the person who wronged her is suffering just as much if you have read this all the way I thank you for hearing me out

Derek Dumas I'm not missing any of the story. It wouldn't change that referring to tricking someone into sex (by posing as their partner, no less) as "unintentional infidelity" is unnerving, and I don't want to be around anyone who believes calling it that is acceptable. Blaming the victim is disgusting. Everyone makes mistakes, sure, but that isn't "just a mistake". Nobody slips on a banana peel and accidentally poses as another person to trick that person's partner into having sex. By the way, this video is a reading of a fanfiction, a story a fan of the show wrote that Scribbler is reading. None of this actually happens in the show.

Briseur De Lance your missing the big picture the part where the wife remembered something I believe it was more of a epiphany realizing something so great it caused her anger and hate to melt and turn to forgiveness that the person who wronged her the most was suffering as equally as she was to give up a child not only because she could not nurture it no matter how much she loved it to fully know that her child may never know who his real mother was or even think it could be raised to hate changlings and in the same hate her as well or never be able to watch her child grow and see what he could become and worst of all never be able to embrace their child again to hold them in their arms/hooves I don't know but that being said I think it's irony because she concived it was a means of destroying someone but instead fell in love with it
