They also have a tendency to develop a cracked dash (over time). Plus, the small square button that releases the hatch tends to stop working (over time). And, the flasher sockets for the front amber lights tend to melt (over time). As well as, the door skins tend to crack along the top (over time). Oh yes, they are prone to having one headlight up while the other one, though lit, stays down...over time.🙃

My 99 to a tee 🤣😭
Very true, but I still love my 1999 trans am after 14 years of ownership.

Me too. Had it 20 years and it's still my daily driver.... although it's cammed and stroked now!
Yes finally a very accurate video although I have bought the Msd opti and was a displeased with the performance of it it did not last very long
Thinking about buying one of these with the 5.7 6 speed manual that’s local to me, it’d be my 1st manual car.

We just bought a 97 yesterday with the 6 speed manual. Smooth powerful fun car. We are going through it and updating and fixing anything we can find wrong or worn out.
Don’t forget the temperature gauge has false readings it would say it’s hot but in actuality it’s fine but make sure you get it checked first before assuming that cause
Yooo my friend thx for this video, can u give me some links to check where to buy this stuff?
Not a mention of gas gauge rapidly turning on/off and acting erratic despite a full tank.

The gas tank is shaped horribly so its not necessarily the fuel pump but really just the tank is crappy at holding fuel steady
I'm about to buy one so I want to know as much as I can

I own a LT1 and love it. They are very straight forward simply made cars, which is great. Things to do are: 1) Get a good car that's not neglected. 2) Replace all fluids. 3) Replace rad cap + thermostat during coolant flush but before that, check coolant leak into engine or exhaust leak into coolant. 4) expect to replace the window motor assemblies in the future. 5) fuel pump eventually dies. You'll have to either drop the tank (a very involved process) or cut through the body to access the fuel pump (trap door technique). 6) The automatic transmission eventually fails (4L60E) especially quickly if fluid isn't routinely drained+refilled. 7) basically nothing special...just as you would do for any other car. Otherwise, enjoy
Sounds like V6 is the more dependable motor...

the V6 is no more or less reliable than the LS1 if you just maintain them both.. the only real difference is that a V6 is lame..
My rear brakes don't function.

Opti spark was just complete crap. Even the vented Opti later on i never trusted.
