wow - that's gotta be the only video footage there is of the Wild Maus (:27) - the killer (literally) ride that sparked the beginning of the end for the beach by killing riders from the highest turn on two separate occasions - right by one of the main entrances no less - Splat!

+Eric B Is it true that Pontchartrain Beach closed because they could not afford the insurance? That's one of the longtime rumors that persisted during its final years.

Rescue162 Well i did find in one video that there was evidence of vandalism

Rescue162 Also if you look it up, it turns out that the main reason it closed was due to Declining Attendance

I'm with you. It closed the year before the New Orleans World's Fair in 84, which also had attendance problems. The competition from other events and festivals, like the Jazz Fest, didn't help either.

That long-running rumor about people being killed on the Wild Maus (Mouse) are completely false! I challenge anyone to show any evidence such as legitimate news stories concerning any deaths due to mishaps on that amusement park ride, not just at Pontchartrain Beach, but anywhere in the world!
