Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey, my beauty! Grab some yarn and needles and let's knit together. I'll be showing you today how to knit with and without a cable needle. Truly once you get the hang of it, you'll be amazed at how this technique speeds up your cabling life!
It's great for smaller cables where you cross over 1, 2 or 3 stitches.
I'm showing off our luscious Ponchoesque pattern today which you can download here:

The yarn in our pattern is our Sincere sock yarn:

    Chandi, I can watch and listen to you all day. So yes please keep making these long tutorials. I started knitting last November 2019. It has helped me keep my sanity during this pandemic. Your yarns are a work of art! When I get a new package in the mail, I feel like I am opening jewelry. Everything is so beautifully packaged, and the colors are even more fantastic when you see them for real. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us in your channel. Oh, and this cable stich, finally made the concept of knits and purls click!! It was like a veil was lifted and a lightbulb came on!! Can't thank you enough!!

    Yes, yes I just started knitting again. My grandmother taught me 5 decades ago but I haven’t knitted for 40+ years. I always crocheted. I’m retired now and you are an amazing teacher. I’ve relearned to knit and purl with you. (I found the Norwegian purl that’s how I was taught but didn’t know what to call it. I knit continental due to my and my grandmother’s affinity to crocheting). Now you have taught me how to cable. I will make a swatch and practice. I have some of her beautiful work from the late 1960s when she taught me to knit and crochet. Her cables in crochet are beautiful but there’s something about knitting cables that blow my mind. She must have cabled like you showed us here, as I never remember her having cable needles. I love the long tutorials. Thanks for you and your sweet, sweet spirit, dear heart.

    I always love your video. All your videos are full of fun! In early days of my knitting, when I was learning knitting from youtube, I found one of your videos where you showed a can/pen holder (trying to remember) full of different knitting needles. Thank you so much! I don't have a video for the sweater itself. We will be doing a knit-a-long very soon with this sweater: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/knit-your-first-sweater-course.html It isn't the same, but it will be beneficial helping you so that you can make this one. 💕

    Could you answer a question please. If the yarn i choose is the same gauge as per required for width. How do i accommodate for the rows if it is not the same.? would I have to knit more rows than the pattern calls for. Thanks.

    Yes, you would have to knit more rows than the pattern calls for. Just knit until it is the correct length. I hope this helps. 💕

    I understand the cable knit. I don't understand when following the written pattern. Where it says how many stitches in purl or knit you work it does not indicate where you slip the amount of Stitches off. So how do you follow the pattern. Also what ply of yarn can you use?

  • @ExpressionFiberArts

    @ExpressionFiberArts

    3 жыл бұрын

    The pattern doesn't show the non-cable needle method so if it's confusing I would just use the cable needle. Any ply of yarn is fine - we used fingering weight for the pattern.

    How do I know what the bust sizes are? How do I measure for the circumference? I need bust 38. And what does it mean blocked. How do i block before I make the garment. I love the sweater so I really want this to work out for me. I'm still kinda learning. Thanks.

  • @ExpressionFiberArts

    @ExpressionFiberArts

    This pattern only has finished circumference sizes, so if you have a 38" bust and you make a size 1 you should have about 10" in positive ease. So the sweater should be ten inches in circumference larger than your bust. SIZES:1 (2, 3, 4, 5)/48" (52", 56", 60", 64") circumference, blocked. Made with approximately 12" of positive ease.

    Chandi, I'm not sure if I have cable needles, I do have some short dpns, could one of those take place of cable needle, since just need something to hold stitches and be able to knit off them?

    i'd say if you use a dpn, make sure it's the same size as the needles you're knitting with and preferably in a non slippy material aka avoid metal to avoid unfortunate slippage within the five seconds you're not looking at it

    Aren't you taking a chance of dropping your stitches when you're sliding the stitches off/on the needles? This method is only for 1-2 stitches I assume since a larger cable would have too many stitches.

    Looked over the pattern... OMG it looks so difficult. This should be a step by step knit-along project! The size gauge is 1,2,3,4,5... I'm not familiar with that sizing. Can you specify what each size is?

  • @ExpressionFiberArts

    @ExpressionFiberArts

    3 жыл бұрын

    So the sizing corresponds with the inches in circumference the garment will be: SIZES:1 (2, 3, 4, 5)/48" (52", 56", 60", 64") So if you have a size 3, it would be 56" in circumference. Does this help a little?
