Pomegranate fruiting tips and care || Fertilizing || Monsoon Care

Pomegranate Shrubs are one of the easiest fruits to keep since they are generally not affected by many pests or insects. The Pomegranate fruits are full of antioxidants and thought to have many health benefits.
Pomegranate plants need full sun. Keep an eye on the weather report and if temps threaten to drop below 4°C, move the plant indoors to a sunny window. Water the Pomegranate tree deeply about once a week; possibly more often during peak summer months.
During the growing season, feed each pomegranate tree with compost tea or a balanced 10-10-10 liquid fertilizer every two weeks. Water every seven to 10 days, applying 1 inch of water to each tree. Prune the pomegranate in early spring.
For best growth and production, pomegranates should receive at least one inch of water a week. During dry spells, water is mandatory. If not properly watered during dry spells, fruit may drop prematurely.
Unless you have a very sandy soil that doesn't hold nutrients well, Pomegranate plants need very little fertilizer. The only element they really need is nitrogen, and how much is applied will depend on the age of the plant. Don't fertilize your Pomegranate at all during their first year of life.
Pomegranates are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium, as well as several other key nutrients. In fact, eating one pomegranate gives you about 28 mg of vitamin C, which is almost 50 percent of your daily recommended intake.
The blooming period is relatively long for pomegranates (April-June), but later-blooming flowers may not have time to develop into fully ripe fruit. Fruit ripening takes around six to seven months for most pomegranates.
