Sanding and buffing polymer clay - always such a big issue!
How many times have you watched "tutorials" on how to sand and buff and just got frustrated that you couldn't afford all that equipment?
Well, you know, you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to get nice sanded and buffed pieces. Here's the list of what I am showing you in this video.
I have added everything in the video in my Amazon Influencer store, for the best prices I could find for you
www.amazon.com/shop/kalyanade...
You can also find the fine wool wheels at
polyclayplay.com/buffing-shan...
You can find the 3" mop buffing wheel for the drill on ebay, just be aware that it comes from China so might take 3-4 weeks to get it. The price is unbeatable though

I buy my Premo, Fimo and Pardo clays and many other supplies from PolyClay Play.

This is great information about all the various tools and procedures! There's not just one way to do it, and it doesn't have to be expensive to produce nice results. Thanks for detailing the options, since we all begin somewhere.

Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I have recently learned to etch metal for jewelry and the tutorials I have found explain how to etch, and then say to finish by polishing and buffing. They rarely explain how to do this or what supplies you need to use. I will research and make sure I can use the same wheels and fluffs on metal. The technique is what I needed to learn more importantly. I noticed that you mentioned you are on disability. I have a chronic illness which has resulted in long-term disability which forced me to leave my full-time job which I loved. Jewelry making has been a hobby for years, but I now am hoping to create a business. I have applied for disability and was denied (which I hear happens a lot) and now in the appeal stage. Fortunately I am able to work for my dad's company from home a couple hours a week and my parents have helped me financially, which I am so grateful for. I am making beaded jewelry and basic metal work, but as you mentioned, supplies are expensive. I am in the process of setting up an Etsy shop and creating a website as my health allows. I always thought flex-shafts were expensive and didn't understand the benefit, but you explained it so well. I'm very appreciative of the information that people like you provide about how to do things and where to purchase supplies. I have liked and subscribed and will check out your website and I will make a small donation or purchase something on your Amazon wish list as my thank you. Best wishes!

Thank you, Amanda! For jewelry you will need also compounds for buffing, like rouges and such. The company I got the buffing wheels for the bench grinder, Esslinger, is actually a specialty company with lots of tools for jewelers, you might want to look around in their website. For metal and gemstone jewelry you need a bit more power, so probably you would need something of the Foredom type not a mini bench grinder. Foredom also has flex shafts. Glad to be of help.

This is an old video so I hope you’ll still see my question…. I like your idea of the pedicure tool instead of polyfast as I’ve seen too many negative reviews. I am purchasing the tool but having problems finding the 2” wet dry variety grits at least 300-1200. I dont know the grits 1500…. Any advice? And thank you so much for the research and testing. My hands are hating manual sanding!

Did you check my Amazon Influencer store? I have added there quite a number of kits as well as separate ones. I only use 1000 for super-shine. www.amazon.com/shop/kalyanadesigntutorials
