    I'm pretty happy with the original Polyend Tracker, it reminds me so much of the Commodore Amiga trackers. When I got it first I understood the interface right away. It's nice that they were able to make this upgraded tracker.

    This however, fixes everything I personally had issues with regarding the first tracker. Running out of channels and mono sampling. I'm hoping for more FX lanes in the future, then I'd be 100% happy.

    It’s interesting...I really didn’t think I was going to be interested in upgrading but I walked into the studio on Monday and glanced at my v1 sat at the front of my rig and it made me pause. I switched it on and got lost for an hour. Then I realised that I was smiling...it was FUN and flowing. And my hands loved the tactility, equal to or more than using my Octatrack which is super tactile, and the screen...I realised that I treasured this damn little slab of chips. So I bit the bullet and bought the new one, looking st the specs and applying them to possible usage cases. Soooo....now watching this I’m actually really excited to dive in. All the little things I’d hoped would be there seem to be not only there but better than I expected. Awesome :) thanks for doing this one in such detail, really useful

    Very cool, wondering if you can record synth param changing live with a keyboard controller or other synth sending midi?

    Synth engine aside, how are the new features in general? I can't seem to find any information about in-depth MIDI out settings and parameters... Are the six assignable MIDI CCs per MIDI channel, or six across the entire project? Are the MIDI out polyphony/chord outs flexible, as in can I choose exactly which notes I want to include or are they just a base set of predefined chords? Also, can you change the lines per bar (like Renoise) yet? Sorry for so many questions - I really want to get one of these but can't find any good info on the few points above, and I trust you as a reviewer ;) Thanks!!

    The OS is not the final one and I don’t have a manual and have not tried those functions. Drop Polyend an email though and they will answer those questions.

    So how much ram does it actually have x2 the original to handle stereo, or more than that? I ask because I would constantly run out of memory on the original because I use a lot of guitar stems from my own playing.

    curious about PERC, how to use a single track to sequences up to 5 drum parts, I did not see it in you video 😞

  • @Digiphex

    @Digiphex

    You could just use one single track and the note played determines which drum plays. If you want to change the pitch of the snare as you go along or something you use a macro FX to pitch to do an Autechre type of thing.

    @@Digiphex cool, the macro thing. For PERC what happend when you have two hits in the same line? it is a kind of "polyphony?

    Tracker is definitely the king of Jungle and DnB, but Digitakt has its cool Electron workflow and vibe. Don't forget to throw the MC-707 in the mix too with its 1 of 80 effects per track, polyphonic stereo sample playing, DJ mixer and 2 sends on the output, programmable performance effects processor (Scatter) thousands of synths, mixer on the front, 24 immediate parameter knobs. Not very sexy and quite old but I have yet to see a groovebox have so much power to hand.
