Recorded in 1980, 'Malu A'e Le Afiafi' was released as part of the album 'Samoan Style (Popular Songs of Samoa)' and went on to reach Gold certification. With more than 18 albums in production, 'The Five Stars' sit alongside Punialava’a and Tiama’a as some of the Pacific's most well known bands.

This reminds me of parties (late 70's early 80's) I use to go to and listening to island music was always a Must and of course "Five Star" was one of the popular groups to listen in the late 70's early 80's and beyond... This was the cut and still is!🧡

Omg! Right. I remembered going to a lot of these Samoan dances back in the 70's. Some had lived bands others DJ's (playing their cassettes lol) those were the best memories. Happy Holiday!
Ah the Five Stars. When i was a young nursing student at Auckland Hospital in the late 1970's our Samoan nurses group hired them for our first social those days and from then on, the Five Stars became well know, bc they would play at all our socials. They were so young as well, in their 20's. They always came with their father to the socials.So glad they did well and then they came to America.

I was just wondering, was it really The Five Stars who wrote this song? Because this track is on their album titled “Popular Songs of Samoa” which has a few if not all songs that were already traditional songs or classics 🧐 .. I’d really love to know and listen to the original, it’s a shame Samoan music history isn’t readily available/archived like Western music. I’m just finding out now that a majority of the classics I grew up listening to were written by Tiama’a which is pretty amazing.
