The Engine is still in eco while the transmission is in normal mode. The DSG default mode is D. Even if you select sport mode the gearbox will start in D whenever you switch the car on

I’ve had 5 Volkswagens they all do the same thing, the engine is still in your selected mode but the transmission by default on start up is in normal

I have the same car and it does the same thing. It sometimes shows "D" on the display even when in Eco mode. The same thing happens on the T-roc. You have to re-select the Eco mode on the touch screen for the "D" to change to "E"

They should update so if it resets it should also update on the screen to normal mode.

Same thing happens between Sport mode and Drive which is annoying but I didnt buy the car to drive in Eco mode. That said I'll give it a test and let you know if I have the same as you.

This is normal for VW, I had the 2018 GTI and when it's in Eco it will come back normal after you restart the vehicle. Even BMW does this when you restart the car you always have to switch to Eco Mode. Not sure about other brands.

Can confirm, my car is doing the exact same thing after switching driving modes and starting the car again, it goes back to D.

On my Cupra Eco mode can be forced only in individual driving setting. Try with it. I have a 22 Polo GTI but I’ve never selected yet the eco mode. I’ll check.

I have the 8 gti so for the car to be on E mode where it coasts when u decelerate start the car and then select E mode it will display E on the display and coast. Once you stop and switch off it will default to D even tho you in E mode but it won’t coast

Read the manual. The car always start in Normal. No fault. Nothing to check

@@autismcapetown I bought my Polo GTI in 2019, not only the 2022 model has this issue. It’s a bit annoying, frankly.

Pointless video , that is normal in a polo , it will always default to normal , if the dealer knows their cars they would have told you . There is NO fault

No it does not. Had polo highline 2018, 85kw which did not default to normal.

@@autismcapetown if you put it in eco I will always default back to normal on a restart , I know because I have 2 and VW UK are more clued up :) however … it should show the E on the display , in normal with the D wont show the word eco when you coasting but it does coast , if you not seeing the E when in eco then I would do a factory reset of the infotainment system. What does it show when you select individual and configure the engine to eco , the E should show up . But as for auto selecting eco on startup , that’s normal for it go to normal not a fault
