Pollution in Thailand 2023! Will it get better? 🇹🇭 Thailand

Bangkok has to deal with a lot of pollution this year. The AQI Level reached 182, which is in the red category. You can really see the polution at the moment in the city.
The smog is caused by the burning of the fields by farmers and when the weather is stagnant, the smog keeps hanging around. This takes place in the whole country. I biked around the SWU University and the Benjakiti Park. The smog effects everything.
This smog happens every year. Check the video i made in December 2020 : • Bangkok Air Pollution ...
Root the Future about Pollution : • Climate Cycle 1500 KM ...

Thailand, especially Bangkok is one of my favorite places in the world. I was there as a student at the International School of Bangkok in the mid 80's when it was located at Sukhumvit Soi 15 (Ruamchai). The pollution has always been bad in Bangkok and really wish the Thai Government would take a strong and strategic approach to the pollution from all of the sources. Thank you very much, GTM for posting this video and the Root the Future cause. I applaud the efforts and hope that one day, this can be a condition of the past.

Love the footage but some clarification; Yes, the 'burning season' adds to the smog but it is not the main reason. A farmer in East or West Thailand cannot be blamed of course for BKK air pollution. The #1 is traffic, #2 is the "27 coal power plants currently in operation emitting approximately 34.9 million tonnes of CO2 as well as large amounts of nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulphur dioxide (SOx), and other pollutants. Tiny dust particles, commonly known as PM2". The farmers add but are not to blame, they just need better support getting rid of their waste and more education. Taking the BTS helps, car-pooling helps, solar and wind power helps.

Having the same issue here in Vientiane, Laos at the moment. So it's not a "Bangkok problem" per se., it's as Jeroem said, the combination of field burning and stationary air.

The smog today is the worst I have seen in Bangkok. Hopefully the government starts making some changes to help the situation. I know that they can't stop other countries like Cambodia burning off, but they need to help/educate the local farmers. Also, getting rid of the old buses might help a little too...The market you went to is great though! I've been there a few times recently.

I think when the PM particles get too high they recommend N95 masks. When I visit for a couple of weeks I don't bother with masks outside, but if I lived there I probably would.

The Increasing Pollution and Smog is extremely Depressing, since I really wanted to stay in Jomtien for awhile. The Air Quality Particulate pm 2.5 are extremely small and toxic. Small Particles 2.5 can actually enter Your Bloodstream through Your Lungs and Upper Bronchial. I really don't want that risk. So Disappointing, will delay my trip to Thai until it clears, IF it Clears.
