    I just got my set yesterday on sale at Best Buy and I’m loving them. I previously owned some really awesome Klipsch towers but had to leave them behind in Hawaii when I moved to Texas. I made a brief dalliance into soundbars and grew to miss the clarity and depth of separates. Soundbars work well in bedrooms but I prefer my new separates system in the family room. Having 7.1 Polk speakers connected just makes a world of listening difference. Great review. I’m a little late to the party but I’m glad I finally made it! 👍🏼

    I appreciate your honest evaluation. You are right about Best Buy's listening environment. NO speakers sound as good there as they will at home. I have had the chance to compare (in my home) the Pioneer SP-FS52's to Polk Monitor series, tower speakers (a step earlier and below the T50's) and I clearly preferred the Polks, which I believe have been underrated. Too often, after higher-end speaker companies have prospered (for example, Infinity and NHT) they are taken over by or sold to a larger concern that does not maintain the original standards. It is refreshing to see that in the case of Polk, mass production can be done according to established standards and the product offered to the public at bargain prices due to the larger number sold.

    I know this is an old video... But if you can answer... How do thess compare to the R40 towers from Polk Audio. They have 2 5-1/4 drivers.. No passive radiators.. and the same, or very similar tweeter. Is the R40 a better or equal speaker to the T50

    hey, what about the T15 bookshelf speakers? Are they as good as the floorstanders? i wanted to get the T50 floorstanders but since im shipping abroad the floorstanders will cost way more to ship due to height and weight! So is the T15 good? wanted 2 pairs for a surround sound system. How do they compare to pioneer sp-bs22 bookshelves? Originally was planning to get the pioneer set but they are too bulky and cost way more to ship!!

    i discover polk audio when i first purchase a PC in 1997. it came with it. i the speaker was so small and when i listen to music it was so well balance. the vocal was so nice. i used to buy only pioneer and sony brand. now polk audio is added to my list. pioneer is good for super loud and crystal clear. polk for some reason has slightly better higher end for instrumental. i listen to instrumental a lot.

    Hi, I'm from Rio de Janeiro. I'm supporting a friend to buy a pair of front speakers for their home theater. I listened to the Yamaha NS-F51, 555 and 777, and I didn't like any of them. I found the sound metallic and with harmonics mixing. I listened to two Polk models, S50 and T50, and I really liked the cost-benefit of the T50, considering it far superior to any of the 3 Yamaha I heard. I looked more for the T50 and so I got to your video, which came to ratify my thinking. I have 2 Lando LX-4000 speakers box (Brazilian with imported speakers) from the 80's. They were Top at the time and continue to serve me well on my HT, as they have an incredible definition. They present a balanced and well-defined sound like few others and, through experience with it, I feel free to analyze other modern ones. I'll keep looking, but for the price and quality, I think the T50 will serve my friend well, who doesn't want to spend a lot. Congratulations on your channel and your knowledge, surely obtained through a lot of study.

I'm completely sold by your recommendation of the Polk Audio T50, I'm thinking of coupling it with a turntable... what do you think? And most of all, for CD listening... what would your personal choice BE for amplifiers for the T50? Can't wait to hear from you.

    I bought a pair of Klipsch RP-8000Fs about a year ago and I really like them with certain types of music but with music i like best like hard rock and metal they just killed me on the highs. Well I got a pair of these for $150 a pair from Best Buy for black friday last year for my office and I started to notice how much more balanced these were and sounded better over all. Sure they aren't as dynamic and can't fill a room on music like Steely Dan and Classical music but they sounded really good on a wider range of music. I since bought a set of RP-600Ms for my office and put the Polk in the living room. They match extremely well with my 12" Klipsch sub. The RP-8000s are sitting in my spare room. My wife of course is giving me crap since my $1500 speakers are collecting dust while I listen to the $150 speakers.

    So 5 years after this review I wanted some new rear surrounds. Fronts and center are Polk so I figured I would go with Polk again. I got the T15 which are part of the T50 class. I have heard the T50 but they are not as good as my A7s or A3's. Maybe it's me but I like the tweeter. Fact is it needs a break in period. I would say give it 3 months but ideally 6 months and to me that tweeter has smoothed out over those time periods. I digress. I asked myself how good can this T series be. I like the prices but what about sound? Before I put the T15's in place in the rear I compared them to the older Yamaha's that they are replacing. I ran the test in stereo using music. Not bad Yamaha and they have held up nicely after 25 years. However the T15 high end just really impressed. A short test because a few hours listening to jazz and jazz vocals. Wow I wish that I had a smaller room and these could be my fronts! If I was in a dorm room or apartment, these T15''s would be all that I would need assuming I am not doing bass heavy House or hip hop. That's where I think the T50's should take over. They too would be excellent is a smaller room. I have yet to purchase a bad speaker model from Polk and that's saying alot. I have had a few Sony, Klipsch and others that just didn't cut it.

    +Agustín Rivera - Hey Agustin. The A7's are great speakers that do a lot of things well. Since I'm pretty familiar with their sound, I have no problems dishing out my thoughts on em'. Getting right to it... The A7's bring a lot of good things to the table. They are extremely power efficient, they throw out a massive soundstage, they boast of a very lively and dynamic sound, they are relatively full-range, and best of all - they are very easy to work with and tend to sound good with a lot of 'real world' music. The only downside? That tweeter. Not only is it boosted in a way that draws attention to itself, the treble can become rather bright on certain gear and on poor recordings. Some people like this type of sound while others don't. Personally speaking, I could use the A7's for a HT and be happy for the rest of my days. If however, I were to use them for stereo listening, I'd be sure to pair them with a good tube amp. Hope this helps!

It matches the T50's perfectly and will only set you back $130. www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-T30-Channel-Speaker/dp/B013LIN554 As far as surrounds go, if you're tight on space, then you could opt for a pair of T15's. Those speakers often sell for as cheap as $50/a pair when on sale. Otherwise, if you DO have the space, I'd just get a second pair of T50's for the surrounds.

I don't know why. I read good reviews on Stereophile and even Mr. Audiophillac on Cnet said good things about the SM55. Im listening to spyrogyra now off spotify and the T50's are so smooth. Every single instrument can be heard.. Quick question. If i place the T50 on the thermocol packing that the speakers came in, would it suffice instead of the 2 inch wood plank? I have hard tile floors. Thanks.

    Hello, thank you for your review of the Polk T50 speakers. Please bear with my prelude to my dilemma. I'm not and Audiophile by any means, but I do love, appreciate, and want the best sounding equipment I can afford. By afford, I don't mean putting a $5,000.00 sound system on a credit card. I'm trying to put together the best sound system I can for $500.00. My current listening preference consists of 80% home theater and 20% music (all types). I began with a Onkyo TX545 receiver, Paradigm center channel, two Paradigm Titans (front), two Paradigm Atoms (rear channel) and a 100 Sony subwoofer (all used). The system sounded ok but not as good as I'd like. I have since bought two (used) Polk RT800 floor speakers (front), a (used) Polk cs300 center channel, and moved the Paradigm Titans to the rear. The Sony subwoofer just didn't cut it, so I actally purchased a (new) Polk sub on sale at Best Buy for $100.00. Much better lows/bass, however, the sound is lacking the high frequency sound of the cymbals in Van Halen's "Atomic Punk". I NEED that! So now, I went out and bought two (new) Polk T50`s on sale at Best Buy for $150.00. They are still in the box and I'm hoping they will give me the highs that I'm looking for? Before I unbox them, I'd like your opinion. Will these T50`s make those cymbals stand out or do you have another recommendation (within the same price range). BB also has some Klipsch R-51 bookshelf speakers on sale for $124.00. Also keep in mind that I don't have a clue about the receiver settings. I just plug the speakers in and listen. I don't know about Crossover, phase, dB, and the other adjustments that I think it has. Your advice would be much appreciated!

    If you can afford them, the F6's are the better speaker for 2-channel music listening. That said, the T50's are absolutely sublime for the money. I actually prefer the voicing of the Polk speakers - but that's just me.

    Any thoughts on how these might compare to the Pioneer SP-FS52 Andrew Jones speakers? That would be a fun comparison.

  • @ZeroFidelity

    @ZeroFidelity

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Yippie - Aw man. I knew that question was going to pop up! So here's my take on that comparison: If you plan on connecting these speakers to an A/V receiver, then I think both of these speakers compete very evenly with one another. The Polks are a bit more expressive than the Pioneers, and I think they have the upper hand when it comes to seamless driver integration. However, the Pioneers have a softer upper midrange and despite using smaller drivers, their larger (ported) cabinet helps to give the bass a tad more "oomf". This allows the Pioneers to do a better job of filling a big space with sound. Now, if you plan on using these speakers in a typical hi-fi setup, this is where I think the Polks begin to distance themselves from the Pioneers. As EXCELLENT as the Pioneers are, I think the Polks beat them in tone, driver integration, and bass articulation. As soon as you get those Polks off the ground, they offer a level of performance that I was never able to achieve with those Pioneers. Now on the flip side, I'd take a pair of Pioneer bookshelf speakers (BS21's or 22's) over the Polk T15's any day of the week. But when it comes to a tower vs tower comparison? Yeah, it's the T50's for me. And by no small margin.

    Yeah, I kind of figured you knew people were going to ask you about that one. That's why I was surprised you didn't bring it up in the video. :) But thanks for writing out your thoughts about this comparison. Hopefully others will read it too. I been an audiophile for long time now, but I still have fun playing at the lower end of the spectrum from time to time. We need these products out there to bring a new generation into our hobby and keep it strong. Thanks for your videos.

  • @ZeroFidelity

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Daniel P - The Monitor 60's are brighter, more dynamic, and fuller-range. If you have a big room and if you like it loud, the 60's are a safer bet. If however, you're in an average-sized listening room and listen at non-ear shattering volumes, the T50's are a touch smoother and offer up a more natural tonal balance. Since I'm a tone whore, I err to the side of the T50's. :D

    Hey Daniel, Since I'm not familiar with the owm5's, I can't really tell ya how the T50's compare. One thing I will say is that if you do buy the T50's, be sure to put them on top of something like a thick cutting board. They are light speakers and really benefit from having a solid foundation under them. It cleans up the sound quite a bit.

    Cool. I had pretty much wrote these off after taking the T15's home and then promptly returning them. Also I would love to see some more affordable gear reviewed. Any idea how these would compare to the Onkyo SKF-4800 towers?

    @ZeroFidelity

    +ocularis73 - I honestly have more fun reviewing affordable gear than I do expensive hi-fi exotica. That said, I haven't spent any time with the Onkyo's, so I can't really tell you how they compare to the Polks. I gotta say, the Onkyo towers don't look half bad. :D

  • @ZeroFidelity

    @ZeroFidelity

    8 жыл бұрын

    +ocularis73 - Yep. Don't get me wrong, the Monitor 70's do some things very well. They are more open sounding than the T50's. They are also punchier, more dynamic, and feature an aggressively tuned top-end that some people may prefer over the smoother (by comparison) T50. For me though, the accentuated top-end is a deal killer for me. I hate to say it, but the (new) Monitor, TSi, and RTi line can get rather brutal at times.

  • @vannk73

    @vannk73

    8 жыл бұрын

    Wow, I didn't expect that. For the price and the number of drivers I thought the Monitor 70's would slay these little T50's. Now these are even more intriguing..

  • @ZeroFidelity

    @ZeroFidelity

    8 жыл бұрын

    +ocularis73 - It all depends on what you're looking for! As an example: I fancy speakers that have great tone are are a whole bunch of fun to listen to. That's where the bulk of my personal bias resides. So within the scope of that bias, the T50's are the most tonally adept sub $500, multi-way towers that I've come across.

(Sorry couldn't help that pun just sort of squawked out • darn did it again) Anyway, these are some very nice speakers, especially for the money. I have them paired with a DIY 10" sub. • @ZeroFidelity

    @ZeroFidelity

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Andre tabares - Hey! The Onkyo 9050 should have zero issues driving the Polk T50's. The only thing you need to be aware of is that Onkyo units tend to sound a little bumped up in the treble, so you may find yourself using the tone controls to mitigate that effect. Otherwise, you're good. The most important thing is paying attention to how you set these speakers up. I uploaded a "Bonus video" which goes over a few things that you can do to maximize the performance outta the T50's. They really are fantastic speakers for the $$.
