Politically Incorrect August 1998 Part 1 of 2 Eddie Izzard Christine O'Donnell

Комедия

ETA: Just posted a minute of a 2010 interview with Eddie in which he talks about this clip. He seems pretty chuffed that it went viral, which is a weight off my shoulders. I thought he'd probably be glad it was out there but couldn't be completely sure.
ETA: Thanks for the shout out last night, Mr. Maher! 9/18/10 Well, hello world! Welcome to my channel. Come for O'Donnell and (I hope) STAY for Eddie.
This was Eddie's first appearance (of an eventual five) that he made on Bill's late, lamented program. Enjoy.

@iSAW7 specifically it comes down to measuring "motivation" which is something we both cannot do. Or deciding how much motivation is enough to consider them related.

O’Donnell wrote in a 1998 essay: “As Christians, virginity is not even our goal. Purity and holiness are our calling in Christ.” Yes, it most certainly us a goal of true Christians. I'm not sure if that is truly from an essay of her's, but if it is she is dead wrong. You can't have prity without virginity.

@iSAW7 I am not distorting the argument. I feel as though you are saying that if we see anything that has no physical provocation we are warranted to attack, by that standard we can attack Somalia. I never meant slight discomfort either, are you saying If they have anti-american views we can attack without physical provocation? I am attempting to clarify your stance.

@iSAW7 I didn't specify invading Rwanda though, I said Africa, I did not say which part of Africa should be invaded, I only brought up an event in Africa's past that adds to the continent's history, I should clarify; Africa houses atrocities that are far more trying for it's people so why are we not liberating them? I was largely just referring to anyplace that has injustice using Africa as an example and Rwanda as a more specific example of atrocity.

@iSAW7 Yes but this doesn't mean that it can justify the invasion. I feel as though the bush doctrine is hurting us by excluding other solutions to these issues than just invading. We invaded without this knowledge, in fact the person you mentioned before set up traps for us when we invaded before we had invaded. It was premature and unplanned at best.

@iSAW7 We did not ignore Bin Laden. President Clinton actually started a search for him during his presidency, the only people who ignored Bin Laden was the Bush people who were in business with his family. Also I never said he didn't support radicals. I'm saying that a "team up" isn't the most likely outcome. If we were attacked as an act of war from an actual hostile nation instead of extremists this would be an entirely different story.

"As Christians, viginity is not even our goal." We're not privy to the entire talk to see the context, but perhaps she misspoke as everyone does. I believe she is not speaking to children/adults who are unmarried. Those of us who forfeited our virginity prior to marriage, socially acceptable or not, have forfeited much. We have, conciously or not, cheated on our spouses in advance. If anyone ever plays the tape back on our lives we will be as humilated as she and probably worse.

@lanegwyn The same exact thing happened to me! I was staring at her picture on the Yahoo article, when she first won the primary, because I knew her from somewhere. Then I read in the article that she was once on Real Time, and I instantly remembered her, and my first recollection was 'It's that phenomenally stupid woman who was on with Eddie Izzard!'. I never had much of an optimistic view for the tea party movement, but her nomination killed whatever little bit of hope I was still harboring.

I urge everyone not to trust those who speak in absolutes.Shades of grey are everywhere. When you can appreciate the position of others, even if you cannot empathise with it you are a whole human being as far as i'm concerned. People who talk in absolutes (TELL THE TRUTH ALL THE TIME NO MATTER THE COST) are ignorant, and hurtful and cannot see that a small lie to protect others is not against nature, or god or whatever. IT'S HUMAN! Peace out!

@iSAW7 I didn't bring up invading Rwanda, that was an assumption you had. I referenced the Genocide as an example of an occurrence in Africa that had a large impact on their people. I never said anything about invading it. I feel that money is a motivator for war as is religion so the two can be seen similarly, that is my stance, but we can talk about religion if you want.

@iSAW7 Also what I mean is that even the slightest hint that Iraq was in bed with Bin Laden would have warranted an actual political response, but he wasn't. If they were training terrorists jointly in any way that would be different but we can't play the world on what-ifs. There are more ways to handle a situation than invasion, flatly the invasion of iraq had nothing to do with us being in any danger.

@iSAW7 Again there was no actual attack on us. What you are insinuating is that if we think we are feeling the slightest discomfort with someone we can invade them. I said political response, not military. And why the middle east then? why not Africa? We have been attacked by pirates, should we invade? There have been far worse atrocities from Africa than from the middle east. The Rwanda genocide comes to mind. It was not about freedom. We ignore worse every day.

I'm surprised people focus on the fact that she said that she dabbled in witchcraft, when in reality she did no such thing, since neither witches nor Satanists use blood in rituals or on their altars. What the reality is is that she lied, using some Christian propaganda she read as the basis for that lie. This is the real issue here, after making such a big deal about not being a liar, she is obviously lying in this clip, and yet no one is calling her on her bullshit.

@iSAW7 Even if the media ignores something that does not mean it's not there. The fact that the media didn't cover it doesn't dismiss the fact. And politically, attacking a military giant with the support of other military giants could very well have started an even larger war that would have demolished that section of the world. Politics isn't just who can wave the biggest stick or use the biggest gun it is also about knowing when and how to use these things and when that would be absurd.

@Saucypants1000 -- Why is it that post-sexual breakups destroy us the first time and get less painful each time it happens? Because the first time was not love but lust. Then, we close our heart to others a little more each time we begin a relationship and not jump head first into love again willing to give our full and unvarnished selves. Therefore, if this happens before marriage we are already untrusting and hard-hearted in some degree and that "cheats" our spouse.

@iSAW7 I disagree, I am likening how the turnout could have become more covert and less stand-offish. The last part is just how escalation isn't always a good option. My point was that you said we ignored Bin Laden, we as a government did not, we were aware he existed, the media is not part of the government and has no need of mention in this instance. Heck even when 9/11 had just occurred we had a shot at locating him but we let his family flee the country without questioning them.

@Saucypants1000 -- Full disclosure...yes, I engaged in pre-marital sex. That aside, I do believe that it was not the ideally healthy choice. Sexual intercourse is no trifling thing. We are emotional, phyiscal, spirtual, and social (EPSS) beings. The intensely intimate act of sex with another person is not merely a physical connection. Because we are EPSS beings two persons become one in all 4 areas of being during sex.
