I believe it's "impeachment", but that's case by case. Need to also think about sanctioning their confirmation hearings: - evade a direct question? Disqualified. Instantly. Do not pass "go". Do not get black robe! - change your stated position from what you said at the hearing (without first explaining "why" to your citizens?) Boom. Boot and replace. - abide by the exact same standards for all courts below with respect to "accepting no gifts" and "appropriately recuseing" (looking to you, Thomas) None of this political nonsense either. No witholding house/senate voting. Straight "up or down" vote (60%+ carries). No secret voting. Names required.

One would assume that it is illegal to lie to Congress. However the impeachment process is the same as far as I know. The House would have to vote to impeach. Then 2/3rds of the of the Senate would have to vote for removal. However: Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. Some of these Trumpian members of the Supreme Court have been bribed, but they haven't bribed anyone. If a public official accepts money to do, or not do, an official act, they can be charged with bribery - even if they don't follow through with what was asked, or if they would have done what was asked anyway. So there are are multiple members of the Supreme Court that could be impeached and stand trial in the Senate. Current House? No hope of the impeachment of a Trumpian member of the Supreme Court. 2/3rds of the Senate voting for their removal with the current Senate now infiltrated by more Trumpians and insurrectionists? Not going to happen. The corrupt defend the corrupt.

Should we ever allow any President to commit any crimes, ever? Why would that ever be Ok? The President is tasked with executing and upholding the rule of law. Giving that person the right to defy the law-any law-would be “breaking” the law in its most literal sense.

For the Supreme Court, especially THIS Supreme Court, Lord Acton’s dictum applies: “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. There is no check on the power of these people.

I like Joyce Vance’s twist on this: If the President orders an assignation on a supreme court Justice he disagrees with, rather than a political rival…rather moving, but this court is trying to become the legislative branch at the bequest of their wealthy donors.

Rayvezeau could well be a supporter of the Conservative Party of Canada, not of Mr. Trudeau’s governing Liberals: you do not know. No matter. As a nation we are vitally concerned, ever if we have no say For example was odd, but I found myself explaining to an highly educated American (PhD, university prof) how Maine and Nebraska award Electoral College votes differently than other states. There is no way I should know stuff like that, or the names of SCOTUS cases like Heller, MacDonald, United Citizens. These are not household names like Roe v Wade, or Brown v School Board or Dred Scott.

@@scabcrawler632 BTW, Mr Justin Trudeau won three elections (1 majority, and 2 minority governments). A lacklustre leader without a lot of skill, he will nonetheless have served nearly 9 years when the next election is called, making him the 7th longest-serving PM. Not a great legacy, but mildly competent, with an unusual talent for kicking own-goals.

Makes me sick that they are hearing this at all. We already heard it fully examined and demolished by the DC Appeals court, they have absolutely nothing they can possibly add but politics and obtuse questions. WTAF do they think they're doing. The arrogance is disgusting.

SCROTUS has already disgraced itself by neutering the 14th Amendment and overturning Roe, and they should have never even taken up this case, which makes me very sceptical that they will do the right thing.

I live in Ireland. I can't understand why those who care about and love democracy don't gather outside the supreme court when this decision is being made. We depend on America. Actually the "Supremes" ARE above the law. Thomas has obviously done some unethical things but there are ZERO consequences. So yes, the "Supremes" have the greatest power over the populace--way more consequences to our daily lives than the President.

The problem with the Supreme Court can only be fixed by electing Democrats to the Presidency and the Senate for the next several years, maybe over the period of a decade, until the 6-3 majority becomes at least a 4-5 minority. They leave us no option but to do this.

There needs to be term limits, there needs to be real ethic rules not just the toothless ones they crafted themselves. There needs to be an impeachment act on any judge that is corrupt. Vote blue down ballot so we can achieve those goals..

The trial judge ruled months ago, that a president was not immune from justice for his criminal actions! The court of appeals ruled twice, that a president was not immune from justice for his criminal actions! The Special Counsel, in an attempt to avoid unnecessary delays asked the Supreme Court, at the time when the court of appeals was considering this matter a second time, to consider the facts, but they declined! The Supreme Court then delayed accepting the matter, and also hearing arguments! Considering the financial considerations AT LEAST four members of the Supreme Court have, in my opinion, received because of their status, (and I have posted those considerations previously), the aim of The Court seems to be to assist the defendant as much as they are able!
